I feel like this date is better even though many classic riders disagree (because of the extended period of being at their peak).

Since 2017, it has become a race that isn't about being the best uphill sprinter. It's for the rouleurs and tactical cobbles squads as well. It's fairly unpredictable when there is multiple places to attack and not just the steepest section of Cauberg.

The climber-dominated Walloon classics can use their Flemish cousin (Brabantse Pijl) as the warm up race.

Ok now I finally managed to understand what's going on (thanks @Armchair cyclist for the tip).

I'm good. I got COVID like basically every Italian pro rider but I recovered. My marriage is going ok, I guess, so I can't get married again anytime soon but I'll try to avoid a few races in the future to give Fausto a chance to podium. Incidentally yesterday I was away with my wife to celebrate a few things we couldn't celebrate last month due to both of us getting sick but Fausto decided not to race AGR. He should check my schedule before deciding his racing calendar.

Just celebrate the 5th anniversary of Nibs last Lombardia win this October okay?

If we had at least 3 of the quartet Van der Poel, Van Aert, Ala and Pogacar in top shape in the AGR, I'm pretty sure it still would have seemed more like a traditional hilly classic.

The stress in this race with all the road furniture must be brutal, if you're racing in the bunch. I wonder how much more energy you actually waste by riding in the breakaway.

They would still have challenged each other from far out. And other riders could be tactical and do less work.

Pre-2017 was an awful route.

New rule is both cyclists fight until there is one left standing but that could be voted out and replaced with whoever drinks “das boot” the fastest, wins.

Actually. If the length is less then one beer. Then all involved to win automatically.
