Decent finish but too many stages like this in this edition. Needs 2 hilltop finishes instead of just 1

Either there was another crash in the last km, or Contador just rolled home the last bit.

Could be a time gap then, if the commisares see that he wasn't affected by it.

Contador didn't crash at the end there. He slowed down then took his time rolling in. No point wasting energy if he gonna get the same time anyway.

Yeah, he completely avoided that crash. If he just rolled in > if managed to crash on his own after that >   Reckon he won't get s.t. because he was in the group after that crash and just cruised to the finish

In which case he should be penalised if he just strolled home which would be stupid to do for no apparent reason. He must have been down again

We need a Muro-stage. Only small time gaps but proper racing between the big GC-guys

Of course he will get the same time. He was held up/slowed down by the crash, just like several others were. Whether or not he rolls home with them or walks from there on doesn't matter.

Decent finish again. Matthews a bit too hesitant - surely he realised no-one else would pull with him around. Should have been looking to close gaps himself in that final 1.5km.
Matthews would rather lose to an attacker than to someone else in the sprint it seems.

Bala so-so today. Was he hampered by that crash? Or does he lack some pure speed atm?
Lacking pure speed in all the finishes I've seen, also during a few sprinter stages in Catalunya. Which is smart, Ill take less explosiveness and better climbing all day.

If you look at the footage, there was no split caused by the crash. Everyone else managed to stay with the group. Not a clue why the hell he decided to roll in, it almost seems as if he's given up on winning the race, he wasn't too optimistic beforehand and he's constantly hanging at the back, not closing down attacks etc.

I agree. Although i don't think he can upgrade his climbing to Froome-level in July ;)

But that's a discussion for a couple of weeks time :)

Maybe he has just dropped a level as well. It could be pretty hard to sustain the level he had at Catalunya all the way through to Liege, so maybe he's at the bottom of a wave right now in terms of form preparing for another mini-peak. I guess we'll see for sure tomorrow.

Only 25 riders were in the first group over the line.
