Well idk, I think now a lot of key contenders are either out or behind Schachmann will win this bike race

Martinez and Fuglsang came at 25seconds.
I'm still not convinced by Schachmann climbing. If they race the last two stages really hard he can lose more than 2 minutes. Even Adam Yates still has a chance.
Right now I think that Ion Izagirre is the favourite.

If Schachmann drops on the two tough stages Bora have Konrad and Buchmann in position to step in and even attack. Really strong race by them.

What the....

Don't think its bad for the race actually. The two big stages will be raced very aggressively now, especially the last one with great incentive and decent possibility route-wise to go relatively long. Dunno how much they will use the Aerate-Stage, but there's a very hard climb beforehand (Arrate steep side?) Should be a couple of fun days.

I was looking forward to seeing how Alaphilippe and Thomas (and Mas) would have done in the GC, so naturally the fun is now ruined on that account. But in some ways, it may be a blessing that the best climbers of the spring (Yates, Fuglsang, Martinez) are now behind. I reckon Astana will play out Fuglsang for long range attacks with Ion Izagirre currently 2nd in GC, and I am looking forward to seeing that in particular.

Astana still has three cards to play with in the GC.

I hope the crash didn't diminish Alaf's chances in the climbing classics.

I'm not expecting Lambrecht to contend for a top 10, but i'm curious to see where he'll end up. With the crash he lost 25 seconds, but gained two spots it seems. Teuns, Madouas, Gaudu... also lost 25 seconds. Gaudu and Madouas are just outside the top 20 i'm guessing. Pogacar lost 1 minute.

MK said on twitter that although he crashed hard he's alright. Castroviejo and Hansen were taken to the hospital.

Carlton Kirby gets plenty of stick but he was quite prescient with his commentary there today.
He spends a lot of his time predicting disasters - he will be right occasionally

Nasty high speed crash with 5km to go - hope all are well soon. Lucky for Bora they're not just relying on Sagan for wins.

Sky not having much luck with crashes.
