Trentin, Boonen, Terpstra, Gilbert all should be on the attack while Styby should mark Sagan. Gaviria should probably be on the attack as well depending on how he does in G-W.

Like this indeed. Styby is the only one who could possibly match a Sagan attack. Also those others have bigger engines imo.

Yep. Gilbert, Stybar, Terpstra & Trentin. Any one of them can attack.

Boonen & Gav should wait for the sprint.
And they also have Lampaert.
He should be attacking as well. Put the pressure on Sagan, make him work.
QS have so many great riders for Flanders. They should have them attack in phases quite early, trying to get in different groups up the road. Then it'll be up to Sky and Trek or somesuch to chase.

By the way: I thought that Boonen looked much better than same time last year.

Didn't see it on my coverage but apparently Vandenbergh crashed just in front of Sagan also bringing down Gatto.Sagans gears were jammed and team car was on diversion. He still managed to finish the race with same bike though.I thought he'd be DNF maybe rode the rest for practice.

Sky : 0/10

This was a very encouraging race for Bora, assuming that there is no injury to Sagan. In two important cobbled races in a row, one of their second year neopros has shown himself to be among the strongest. Not at Sagan or GVA or Gilbert level, obviously, but can get a top 10 in a major classic or be around and useful until the very final selection level. Which is pretty damn good for a guy who has been a pro for less than 15 months and a WT rider for less than 3. Suddenly they have a rider on the team who can be an actual lieutenant for Sagan, something they certainly did not seem to have a week ago.

I'm very glad to see Postlberger stepping forward like this, because I thought he looked like a big talent a couple of years ago when he dominated the Ras. Anyone who can smash up that race has the makings of a good rouleur. He got his shot as a pro the hard way, winning quite a few tough races at Conti level, plus some higher profile things like the Austrian RR and a stage at the Osterreich Rundfahrt.

And I'm really happy for Pöstelberger. Fifth place in E3 is a great result.

Absolutely. But better don't read the CN report about the race, because there you find this sentence:

"There was some consolation for Bora-Hansgrohe as Lukas Postlberger, the 25-year-old German,..."

NOT German!

Strong ride from the guy for sure, but let's wait and see if he's still useful after 220+ kms.

It is interesting that Postlberger has been the first of Bora's young Austrian contingent to step forward, as he was certainly the least hyped of them.

Too early for Postberger to add to Sagan quest in RVV imo. The Austrian won't be able be help when it matter this year. Instead the guy should enter 3 days of Panne and ride as captain to get more experience.

Re: 60th Record Bank E3 Harelbe, 24th March 2017, 206 km, 1.

I have watched the race relive on Eurosport. Gva and Phil didn't impress me that much on the bergs. Have anyone timed their effort up the patterberg and kwaremont?

BTW, what was bora director smoking when he said, that it hadn't been done for Sagan after the crash, if it hadn't been for the broken bike. Even getting the minute I suppose Sagan needed at he time before the crash would be insane.

Patrick Konrad already has a top 5 on gc in the Giro del Trentino, 2x top 10 on gc in Abu Dhabi and a top 15 in LBL, but you're still right, both Konrad and Mühlberger always had a bigger hype train.
He always was a good one day racer with a good sprint and a big engine, but I didn't think that he'd shine in the cobbled classics, that's a pleasant surprise.

A fair point. The Ronde is not DDV or E3. But even having someone who looks likely to still be useful after 180km or 200km is a step forward from where Bora were last week.

This would probably be wise from his point of view, but I wonder if it will be how Bora approaches things. Sagan is, after all their number 1, 2 and 3 priority. They are usually quite a careful team about developing neopros, but they really don't have much else to offer Sagan even the chance of help.

What about Lampaert?

I believe Lampaert will be a domestique at Ronde,

Of course, a domestique who's task is to go early in the attack. Lampaert won DDV couple of days ago, that's not an easy race to win. He'll be useful as much as Trentin at Ronde, and more useful than Gaviria

God, is Austria really so incredibly unimportant?

Edit: Just looked at the article and saw that they at least have already corrected the mistake.
