After five years ASO has now decided to return to their initial idea of holding the men's and women's PR on the same day. Following the first edition of PRF, we have been treated to around 80 km of live coverage, but this year it's uncertain how much we'll be getting since it will depend on the speed of both elite races. The schedule says the broadcast will start at 5 o'clock CEST, but the first live pictures could come both sooner or later than that. It means we don't know for certain whether the riders will have passed through Mons-en-Pévèle before then.

However, there is a silver lining: The date change has finally resulted in a removal of the stupid laps around Denain!

Instead of riding south to Montrécourt and then southwest to Saint-Aubert before heading back north to Denain, the course will now bring the riders to Saint-Aubert first. This altered stretch includes two new two star cobbled secteurs; Solesmes à Haussy (800m) and Saulzoir à Verchain-Maugré (1200m).

But those are not the only changes. The major revelation is the inclusion of Haveluy à Wallers (****, 2500m). Now at this point we don't know what this means for the future routes, but at least we are getting geographically closer to seeing the Trouée d'Arenberg in a women's race for the first time since the 2008 Grande Boucle Féminine.

The 2025 edition saw Pauline Ferrand-Prévot catch up with Emma Norsgaard Bjerg before eventually dropping her on Camphin-en-Pévèle and continuing solo for the last 19 km to the velodrome in Roubaix, while her teammate Marianne Vos disrupted the chase behind. A popular win for the home crowd.

This successful partnership will be put to the test once again on Sunday. PFP looked to be in decent shape in De Ronde, but with Vos having had to skip to last few races due to her father's illness and eventual death, her shape is a question mark, though you'd expect her to want to honour her father's long support of cycling and her in career particular by crossing the line first. However, with the recent ban of the Gravaa tyre inflation system in mind perhaps Visma isn't actually going to be the team to beat this year. Time will tell.

Obligatory complaint about them moving the race onto the same day as the mens. I don't give a *** about it probably being more efficient organizing/money wise, the Roubaix weekend was such a good thing for so many reasons... super annoying for it to be moved onto Sunday.

I just saw that we will get less than 90 minutes of coverage. What complete BS.

yep, we are expecting to miss probably half the cobble sectors, and get maybe only 50-60km of racing which is less than half the race :(

and yeah I dont think alot of people will realise this till they try to watch on Sunday and wonder why theres 7hrs coverage of the mens race, and probably not much more than 90mins of the womens, by which time most will have switched off.

Here are my thoughts who are the favorites for Paris - Roubaix:

Team Visma: Last years winner PFP and Vos will lead Team Visma. They will probably work for Vos. I doubt that the other teams will allow PFP attack like last year. For Vos we have to see if she is 100% after her absence.

SDW: Kopecky and Wiebes are two top favorites. We have to see how Wiebes recoverd from her crashes in the Ronde. I hope that Vas will get a free role and doesnt have to work for Kopecky and Wiebes early. Does anyone know why Julia Kopecky isnt't on the startlist? She was scheduled for this race.

AG Insurance: Last year second place Borghesi and Bossuyt will lead the team.

FDJ: Without Vollering, Koch and Chabbey will get a chance in Paris Roubaix to ride for themselve. Also they have Gery. With her CX background, she has probably no problems on the cobbles.

Canyon: After her impressive ride in the Ronde Bäckstedt is also one of the favorites. With her power I think she can stay in touch with others when they attack on the cobbles or even attack herself.

UAE: Without their top riders, we won't see an UAE domination like in other races this year. Gillespie has an outside chance.

Lidl Trek: They will probably try to attack early. Keep and eye on Brand and van Anrooij. If it comes to a sprint, they also have Balsamo.

Movistar: The next young Brit who has a chance of a good result is Ferguson. Last year she crashed with a spectator who crossed the road/cobbles.

Team Picnic PostNL: For Pfeiffer it will be very hard to repeat her good result of 2024. But in Paris-Roubaix anything can happen like the win of Jackson in 2023.

So lets hope for not many crahes and that we will have an entertaining race.

I haven't found an explanation for Kopecký's absence from the final start list. Hopefully it isn't due to a crash. It mean's the three siblings won't all be racing tomorrow.

Mirre Knaven is the only one from her family in the race, but it would be quite the story if she managed to win 25 years after her father. EF has a good history of getting surprise results in this race. On that note, it will also be interesting to see what Jackson can do this year on a new team. She was quite strong last year.

And so it begins. Flat tire for Jackson and Balsamo.
Hopefully we will not see so many mechanicals like in the men race.

Hopefully, the non-slow speeds the guys are riding at means they'll switch over quickly.

Yea, we're back to the "racing in the dark" era of relying on twitter updates to give a brief bit of nostalgia, no live updates and no coverage, tonight we're gonna party like it's 2009!
