They did climb slower until Gilbert gave them something to chase. It was the complete opposite to last year when the climb was attacked from the bottom. This year they were looking at each other until Gilbert followed the Garmin rider.

I only asked how he knows if he didn't clock it?? because gilbert after his attack could've rode the mur way faster than evans did last yera making it overall faster. it's not as if gilbert won with a few metres he could even dance on the finishline

Okay... now I'm a little bit confused.
The official CN top 10:

1 Philippe Gilbert (Bel) Omega Pharma-Lotto
2 Joaquím Rodríguez Olivier (Spa) Katusha
3 Samuel Sánchez Gonzalez (Spa) Euskaltel-Euskadi
4 Andy Schleck (Lux) Leopard-Trek
5 Igor Anton Hernandez (Spa) Euskaltel-Euskadi
6 Jelle Vanendert (Bel) Omega Pharma-Lotto
7 Fränk Schleck (Lux) Leopard-Trek
8 Daniel Moreno Fernandez (Spa) Katusha
9 Christophe Le Mevel (Fra) Garmin-Cervelo
10 Paul Martens (Ger) Rabobank Cycling Team

The "Ryo top 10"

1 Philippe GILBERT OMEGA PHARMA - LOTTO 4:54:57 (Palmarés completo)
2 Joaquim RODRIGUEZ OLIVER KATUSHA TEAM 0:00:03
3 Samuel SANCHEZ EUSKALTEL - EUSKADI 0:00:05
4 Alexandre VINOKOUROV PRO TEAM ASTANA 0:00:06
5 Igor ANTON EUSKALTEL - EUSKADI 0:00:06
6 Jelle VANENDERT OMEGA PHARMA - LOTTO 0:00:06
7 Frank SCHLECK TEAM LEOPARD-TREK 0:00:06
8 Daniel MORENO FERNANDEZ KATUSHA TEAM 0:00:09
9 Christophe LE MEVEL TEAM GARMIN - CERVELO 0:00:12
10 Paul MARTENS RABOBANK CYCLING TEAM 0:00:12

Who was #4?

I'm inclined to believe it was Vino, what with Andy Schleck being all the way at the back of the Peloton.

Why would you need to clock it, when it was clearly visible to those watching?
Oh wait.

From the 1km mark.

2010 Evans: 2m 46s
2011 Gilbert: 2m 44s

Take into account the dance from Gilbert at the end and they're about as fast. So Gilbert didn't "steal" this victory. It was not luck just raw power.

By the way: Gilbert just got his seventh classic win in 3.5 years(+ another 7 semi classics). Who did better? :pµ

edit: oh wait, he actually did 2 seconds faster!

It was Vino, Andy was riding for Frank near the foot of the climb then sat up when his job was done. Not sure what race CN were watching.

Can Gilbert hold this form for much longer ? It will be an incredible effort if he can win at Liege. I think Vino, Kolobnev, Schleck will also be hard to beat.

Haha incredible. He even took the time to stir up the crowd to yell louder.

Vanendert 6th. Damn. No Canc-scenario in LBL, that's for sure. No need to go to another team Philly :)

:) That is almost as confusing as "What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?"

If Gilbert, Vino, Kolobnev ánd Schleck are going to be hard to beat, it's going to be an insane race.

Rodriguez is a bridesmaid again x2.

Slower or not, the Huy was definitely different; everyone saw what happened last year to the world's best, and no one wanted to make the same mistake.

Team Gilbert and the Lotto's are having a great year, indisputably. Can he go for the 3-fer on Sunday?

The ease with which Gilbert is winning obviously makes him the rider to beat but Liege is a much different race. Then again I did not pick him to win today.

Yes but you don`t see the peleton when they hit the 1,3 mark on the Sporza highlights. I doubt there is much difference in those 300 meters.

This was impressive :D Great last 350m to the race.

Surprised at Contador. Rodriguez is very good at almost winning things.

4-fer!

Brabantse Pijl counts a little bit as well :D

I think Brabantse Pijl will lure more big boys after this year. I hope so at least. It has the potential to be the E3 Prijs/G-W of the cobbled classics.

It was incredible, he won the race that was described as too hard for him, he attacked at 15% and no one could follow, even Purito with a teammate... just amazing!
Now he's going to make history on Sunday. I don't know whether there was a rider who won all 3 Ardennes Classics in one year? I guess he must be first one.

Since Rebellin just some years ago...

there is no official result yet and on letour.fr Vino is listed as 4th

Schleck was 4th in the first result shown on tv, they must have transposed their numbers (#71 / #171)
