And some said that Romandie this year is boring. Hardly remember any boring race since I started watching cycling in 2009
Hja, have to disagree. You can check the average speed on final climb. Very fast, for such a long climb. That was good indication of climbing performanceHard to really gauge form when the weather is so extreme that the end results seemed to be more influenced by how well their bodies reacted to the conditions than how good their climbing legs currently are.
I would suggest the stage demonstrated both yes it was fast, but clearly some riders were struggling with the conditions.Hja, have to disagree. You can check the average speed on final climb. Very fast, for such a long climb. That was good indication of climbing performance
I'd be pushing harder too in that weather. Anything to warm up!Hja, have to disagree. You can check the average speed on final climb. Very fast, for such a long climb. That was good indication of climbing performance
Yes.
Be careful what you wish for - good fight may end in the win.Just finished watching the stage. Wow, so many LOLs today.
First I have to say, I'm very happy for Woods. He is in the shape of his life right now. Too bad he crashed in Itzulia. I would have liked to see, how he had fared against Rogla and Pogi on climbs most suited to him. I expect big things from him going forward.
Like many have said, it was vintage Thomas what happened to him in the last 100m. I was in between of feeling sorry for him or laugh, so I did both. Having said that, I've never imagined, I'd be this excited, when I saw him riding this well today. Really. I've never particularly cared about him, but when he disappeared from the Soler/Porte group and then after a couple of minutes we suddenly saw him chasing Woods, it put a huge smile on my face. I guess I just want him and Ineos to be very competitive in the Tour to put up a good fight. And after today I'm positive they'll be competitive. Thomas is on the right track, Carapaz lately rarely misjudges his preparation for a GT, Tao showed big improvement in LBL and Porte will be his usual self.
Ride of the day for Cort. He was immense today. But luckily for the organisers, he got caught. Imagine what would have happened, if he won today and wins the GC tomorrow.
Well, it wasn't that exciting until today's stage. And today there was almost no chance for the stage to be boring. Every time you have a combination of a hard stage and extremely bad weather, you have a recipe for a good stage. Seriously, I can't remember when was the last time we had a bad stage with rain, cold and demanding stage/race profile. And some said that Romandie this year is boring. Geraint Thomas - multiple Tour de France winner.Be careful what you wish for - good fight may end in the win.
Joke!
It's good to see him all good again!
He’s from Perth, I’d imagine even seeing the rain has a similar novelty value to him as it does to my Californian kids, and he’s just delighted to get to spend a day riding his bike through every puddle in Switzerland. Also Ben O'Connor, what a ride. This has to be his best climbing performance by a huge margin. Does he particularly like cold an wet conditions, does anybody know?
I think he can. His TT is bad of course, but I trust only Thomas and Porte to jump him. The others behind him are also mediocre TT riders or are too far behind.Thomas is obviously gonna win the overall but do you think Woods can hold on to the podium?
While there is a muro at the beginning, it is cobbled . And it's on a TT-bike.
Soler also has a good shot at overtaking him, imo.I think he can. His TT is bad of course, but I trust only Thomas and Porte to jump him. The others behind him are also mediocre TT riders or are too far behind.
