Vicente de Mateos and Asbjorn Kragh were the culprits.

They both got kicked out of the race.

Ah thx. Well at least they hit each other properly. Not a copy of the utterly epic fail fight between Arrieta and Sierra in La Vuelta 1995:D

Edit: they actually finish 3rd and 4rd i see. I better watch that sprint;)

Apparently, De Mateos crashed into the other guy when he was heading back to the bus after the sprint.
But yeah, the Volta is awesome, we got a proper fist fight! What other race in the world does that?! Not many :p

It just strenghts the epicness of this race;)

I don't like this sort of zero tolerance decisions. Furthermore, if anything, the only guy who should have been banned was Cristina Watches' rider, the other was merely defending himself from physical attack. Makes me remember when Barredo came out of nowhere to attack Costa with his front wheel and eventually ended up on the floor - back then many were advocating for the expulsion of both riders. Later that same day Barredo went to Caisse d'Epargne's teambus to ask for sorry and they both were okay again.

De Mateos punched the Christina Watches guy head when he was already controlled and with his back turned away. He has something to deal with too...

A bar room brawl (without alcohol) in the middle of a sporting competition?
Sorry, those guys needs some time off.
Its just a sensible decision by race organizer in this case.

Today, the Queen stage of the Volta ending with the mythical ascent to the Torre!

7.ª etapa: Belmonte-Seia (Torre), 172,5 km
The 4th and last MTF on an HC climb roughly 28km at 5%. As far as I'm concerned, the easiest side to climb to Torre. It's a fun climb anyway that usually gives the best climber the win. But first the riders will have to deal with Penhas da Saúde (really hard climb including roughly 8km @ 8% starting in the center of Covilhã) and Penhas Douradas (not so hard yet punishing enough to deserve 2nd category status).

For my part, I'll be cheering for one of the young portuguese guns to take it: Figueiredo, Matos, Antunes, Vilela report for duty! 2nd favourites would be guys like Mestre, Pinto, Ruben Fernandez, LLS or Broco. Please someone stop Belda, Veloso or Sousa from taking this!.... Who am I kidding, ever since that epic 2008 stage I'll be happy with Rui Sousa winning anything:p

I wonder how will Lulu do. I reckon the climb is too long for him but you never know.

Hopefully Pinto recovered from his crashes and wins this. Unfortunately i don't think he can gain time on Veloso and that sucks :(

Yeah it's a long climb but it's also the easiest one to Torre and well suited to Sanchez's climbing style. If they don't get rid of him right after Sabugueiro I can see him hanging on loosing perhaps a couple of seconds. Maybe the ramps close to Lagoa Comprida can do the trick as well... Anyway, if a spanish wins I prefer LLS to Veloso everyday.
The highlight of the stage will probably be Efapel's tactics though, starting right on Penhas da Saude :D

And we have our first break:
- Alberto Galego (ESP) | Radio Popular
- Daniel Silva (POR) | Radio Popular
- André Mourato (POR) | LA Aluminios - Antarte
- Micael Isidoro (POR) | Louletano - Dunas Douradas
- Filipe Cardoso (POR) | Efapel - Glassdrive
- Diego Camargo (COL) | 4-72 - Colombia
- Moisés Nevado (ESP) | Burgos - BH (I suppose it's Duenas although I can't be bothered to check :D)
- Jose Vicente (ESP) | Team Ukyo
- Christian Mager (GER) | Team Stolting

Soft break anyway, I hope the peloton catches them so that we can have a proper fight on Penhas da Saude.

Edgar Pinto has pain and some infection in the leg so not surprising if he's dropped today. Very uneventful and boring first climb, I was hoping to see some crazy attacks. Efapel is too disciplined this year

I was going to say epic fast mechanic from OFM there, but then Veloso stops again: wheel wasn't attached properly. :D

He did reconnaissance of the TT yesterday instead of today's MTF, so I guess that's the stage he's going for.

Ah okey, makes sence. Thanks.

Always nice to see The Serra in green, even if not fully covered. It's proper colour. Great view.

Efapel kept pushing, Veloso getting paced by the team car. No biggie. Hope the organisers don't pull a Rojas.
