The whole story regarding Ruben Guerreiro: he was supposed to ride but then he felt tired after the Volta ao Futuro and he didn't want to quit after 4/5 stages even though the team manager was happy with that. Now he's focusing on the Tour de l'Avenir: it's a good choice, if he rides well there, he'll be way closer to an international contract.

Tour de l'Avenir is a 20-nations race for the best 20 teams on Nations Cup rank. 21 teams are ranked and Portugal have no points. Maybe Hong Kong and another one won't ride? I'm curious.

I found it weird as well considering that Portugal usually doesn't have a national team there since when? Rui Costa 2nd place perhaps... Isn't there a team at l'Avenir with a group of riders from UCI Training Centre or something like that? I really don't know but in the article it seems like it's a sure deal....

Osorio with a good time, the likely GC guy for them? Or is he too young to really be a factor? Do they go for Chamorro still?

Curious to see too if Parra finally can show something of his talent. His transfer to Caja-Rural was horrible from the start, hope he can be a factor in this race.

Yes, seems like it's a sure deal, but last year FPC had the same speech, National team didn't ride Volta thinking about Tour de l'Avenir and, at the end, they didn't ride any of them. No Volta a Portugal and no Avenir.

We will see what happens.

chamorro isn't a supertalent. I doubt he could win anything. salda is known for pressing the most out of the least talent. the only really big talents they have are 1995 generation riders and they are VERY young. osorio is here and he's the leats talented probably of 1995 generation but still very good but only 18 years old and unexperienced of course. diego ochoa is puncher with a good engine. maybe he could win a stage or edson calderonw, who is very strong. suaza isn't here, nor are villegas and some others. their a-team is doing vuelta colombia.

aguirre especially is a very big talent. winner of vuelta colombia for juniors last year and he is from narino. similar state to boyaca. they live at incredible altitude. many riders get offers from their team but they usually don't want to leave the team. simialr thing happened to quintana

he's but on non-active because appearantly his birth date has been a fraud. they trying to solve that now. he may be a lot older.

Ah ok, that's really interesting to read. Looks a little bit like the 'Hernan Buenahora' story back in the 1990's and 2000's.

L.A Antarte's car got front glass broken by Tim Gebauer (Team Stölting (pictured above)). They say he intentionally trew a bottle and also harassed some girls inside the team car. Other cars behind saw it too. Not looking good for him.

Luis Afonso attacks and Victor Valinho breaks his chain. Two in the front now. Valinho about to be caught by the péloton, such bad luck.

Gap is now under 1 minute. Break now only has two riders (Luís Afonso and Frederico Figueiredo) while Efapel puts an infernal pace back in the péloton. They will be caught soon. Meanwhile Ricardo Mestre has a mechanical and leaves the train. He'll be back.

Edit: Efapel keeps pushing at the front while Ricardo Mestre desperatly tries to make it back along with two team mates. It's not the first time we see lack of team communication within this team.

I love the fact that Efapel keeps their team spirit even after the transfer season. They are always all over the place; I'm surprised they didn't put anyone in the break just to chase them down while Ricardo Mestre is chasing the peloton all at the same time!
It has to be a management issue, can't really see another reason for such a mess....

Strange enough i do have the feeling they do a good job, and know something about cycling. Perhaps because i hear them sometimes say Marcel Kittel and Andre Greipel

I'd say they are very good. Marco Chagas is a must, João Pedro Mendonça is a bit to much of a poet. But I enjoy listening to him nevertheless. Anything is better than Paulo Martins and Luís Piçarra, really. I'm sorry you have to watch nail fungus corrector ads though. Portuguese tv is not very good at filtering ads.
