Ah, the “never work at the front” gripe from the armchair bros.

He’s pulling through in a group of 4. He’s taking short pulls. Not a lot of extra effort, and he’s probably feeling good.

No reason to piss off the other riders with this far to go. He can back off later.

These guys race together for years, and bunch dynamics matter. Not always black and white, the tactics.
All fair points to be honest, but when I was racing I would have wheelsucked as much as possible in this situation. Didn't care if I annoyed people, it was tactics

Pedersen Küng Segaert Del Grosso
Vs
Benoot and Jorgenson

Could be close in the end if they go all in behind.

Visma should not let this come down to a sprint even if Wout would be favored. The more sure thing will be attacks until Powless can't follow. Or not ;)

Del Grosso has ridden so impressively, and without the bad luck that has hindered him a bit so fa this season.

Looking forward to another match-up between him and Brennan this Saturday.

That's fine, but look at it this way as well. Benoot has zero chance in the sprint, so he's almost certainly got a podium. We'd all agree he has no chance in hell at the win with 3 guys chasing or attacking him, yes? So why not. Pulling through in a group of 4 is easy. Go for second in the sprint.

If they have a minute with 3 km to go and he's still pulling, I'll happily call him an idiot. Don't see that happening.

Honestly, I trust your expertise more than mine :)
QS tried to attack Stannard, but that only made it a test of who had more left. Had Boonen saved himself for the sprint and the other two pulled, Stannard would never have won Omloop.

Right, but we know they made the mistake in the order of their attackers, Boonen should not have been one of them attacking. But different race here.

VDB and Honore screwed up a bit not getting in this move, gaps coming down a bit and they are working well.
