We've seen plenty of national tours with a foreign start. Is this the first with a foreign conclusion?

Surely it was a joke about how the race was pretty much over after that famous time trial, though Pascal Lino would have won if they had stopped racing then.

And I wonder if Küng will have some extra motivation for the final ITT, as it takes place in his second homecountry.

I assume that's why they've paid to have the ITT, but the last time he raced one there he was crushed by Bob Jungels.

It was the Paris-Nice of 1959, not a separate and different race.

I must say that I really looking forway to seeing Remco here. After the performances in LBL and Norway, this is probably the first time we could/should expect him to perform on the highest level in a big one week race in the high mountaint. This will be a real test ahead of the Vuelta later this year.

I'm just not sure that Evenepoel will be in top form in two weeks. He was already in shape in Itzulia, early April. In top form in Liege on April 24. After a week rest and after training again, still strong in Norway end of May. I think his form will go down in Switzerland. Or I expect that he will have a bad day. Good for his critics, great for his haters. But the neutral and sensible cycling enthusiast will be able to place Evenepoel's performance in the right context. And for Evenepoel it will certainly be getting acquainted with riding on long and high climbs. Up to 2478 m altitude.

Do U23 national tours count? If so, it isn't as Tour de l'Avenir finished with two stages in Italy in 2011.

Come to think of it, it's a bit surprising that the Giro has (seemingly) never finished in the Vatican City, even though I know the Giro doesn't really finish in Rome all that often.

Would be glorious. And rightfully so in that case.

Though i hope he'd do a bit better in the mountains than that. It wouldn't exactly instill a lot of faith for future endeavours.

Then you can say the same thing about Vlasov, DF Martinez, Higuita and Hirschi. I expect them to play a role in this TdS without any exception, just like Remco.

He basically had an off season for the Month of April with Mononucleosis. Fausto is a huge rider , he can win the Giro, but there are no expectations for this Tour de Suisse 2022 and he will be working for Remco. Of course, I hope for a strong results.

With the ITT he can put time to Martinez, Yates, Vlasov, higiuta, etc. But the team brings him to put racing km in the legs and support his royal highness the Prince of Liege

Small point of interest is that, despite having ridden a GT, this will be Pidcock's first WT one-week stage race. In fact he's only ridden two Pro level stage races, and one of them was four years ago.

Even when 100% and in stellar form, he would need extraordinary race circumstances to win here. But in his first race after coming back from sickness... There is no way.

Which was the point I was making: the Tour de Suisse organisers don't seem to think that their national tour must finish in Switzerland.

I suspect that any organised events in Liechenstein come under the Swiss federation, which probably explains/excuses it, but it seems anomalous. A good quiz question for the future.
