They are both from the same year, 2000, Evenepoel January, Skjelmose September i think. That may have been significant back then, but not anymore after multiple years in the pro peloton. And it is now that we are comparing them. I very much doubt Skjelmose is faster in a flat sprint. And regardless, as i said, there are more ways than one to get a timebonus in hilly stages.

Fine by me you doubt it, the future will prove me right.

This drama again proves that a downhill finish is indeed dangerous. It can be avoided by placing the finish a few kilometers further. Even the riders "union" is gonna propose this. But of course, according to you, the riders themself and the union have no idea what cycling is about. I predict, finishes will no longer take place just after a difficult descent .
Putting it on the personal level only makes you look like someone without an argument, besides being uncivil. I don't have to tell the riders what cycling is about, history says it all, and Evenepoel's opinion has it's driving sentiments, but more level-headed minds have stated that descent wasn't dangerous. I'd approve of moving the finish further out, but unfortunately Gino's misfortune was a mistake in judgment not the fault of the course.

Asgreen's pacing is interesting to me, as it probably pertains to Evenepoel.

He wen't fast on the first half, then slow up the climb, then fast on the descent and the last flat part.

We may very well see something similar from Evenepoel.

Skjelmose only got 3rd against Higuita and Bagioli in a reduced peloton in Basque Country. Those guys are real slooow, right?

Don't remember that finish, and can't be bothered to to search for a video.

Either way a single anecdote doesn't really prove anything, as there are so many possible variables.

As said, the future will prove me right, and in the meantime I fully respect that you disagree.

I think Asgreen did the flat sections at the pace of Evenepoel and recovered a bit on the climbs. I assume Evenepoel will do those sections faster.

Of course he should be faster than Asgreen uphill, otherwise he would not be a GC rider... but he has not been climbing well this race, as he is not at his top level, so I expect him to have lost time to Skjelmose and Ayuso at the 2nd time check (compared to the 1st).

Bissegger going slightly better today than in the opening TT which should have suited him way better, weird.
There hasn't been a rider that finished before him in the opening TT to finish and just like in the opening TT he finishes just in front of Asgreen, so it could be just on par with the first TT.

That single anecdote didn't seem to disagree with you though

Ugh. i meant Asgreen did not go all out on the climb in order to be able to push the same pace as Evenepoel is going to push on the flat. Evenepoel obviously is going to go all out on the climbs as well. Regardless of him being faster uphill than Asgreen even if Asgreen had gone all out on the climbs (which would have cost him on the flat sections).

And we'll see how much Evenepoel loses to Skjelmose and Ayuso on the climb.
