Zukowski average speed of 159.3 km/h will be difficult to beat.

This is stage 1 rather than a prologue, so elimination at what, 30% over that time? It could be a lonely week for Zukowski.

That's harsh, because that's basically the case for 99% of the peloton that isn't called Ganna, Van Aert, Evenepoel... Does Küng win more TT's than Bissegger? I'm not so sure he has been more successful in the last 2 years tbh.

Küng is far more of an allrounder though, which allows him to do well in classics and less climby GCs. Yes, they aren't wins either, but third or fifth places are clearly worth more in a major classic than in any stage, especially from a UCI points perspective. In addition, it also means Küng is much more valuable as a domestique and outperforms Bissegger in rolling and hilly TTs. IMO Bissegger should consider focusing somewhat more of his training on hills, that would help him in everything that isn't a flat TT.

I don't disagree regarding Bissegger. But he also won a hilly WT stage in Tour de Suisse, and he was actually a very good hilly rider in the U23's, surprising everyone in Course de la Paix, getting 2nd overall, because everybody underestimated him.

Yep, and he was also winning sprints in Avenir and Ain as a U23. Definitely feels like he's sacrificed his allround ability for pure TT ability the past few years to the point where he's less versatile than just about anyone who's been ITT world champion, at 24 that doesn't have to be irreversible though.

SRF had some quotes from the Tudor car. They said there was a 10 kph speed difference between two of their starters on some parts of the course because of the wind.

So yeah, the early starters had better conditions in the 2nd part, but much worse in the beginning. Not sure it makes too much of a difference overall. Maybe it's slightly worse now.

edit: SRF just said that there's no wind anymore now. Conditions changed again

I'm quite certain that is a composited image with all the riders shot individually and photoshopped onto a fake background. So it doesn't tell us much.
But if you google "Van Aert podium" you get to see some images that do make it likely that he could be 19cm taller than Evenepoel or 6cm taller than Van der Poel.

They literally changed his whole position (they even did a u23 test time trial to test it). I agree his position still looks bad, but you also just can't use junior TT results as an indication for a WT TT 2 years later.
