He probably doesnt lose much. Should be an easy win with the ITT.
The guy who lost 1m20s in 13km is going to take a few minutes in the final TT.

I'm more worried about him paying for the effort tomorrow, him winning the gc is really unrealistic.
If winning the GC is unrealistic, then it doesn't matter much if he pays for it tomorrow. Unless he would like to fight for a podium or top 5.

I mean, a top 5 result in a WT stage race for a younger guy with only one top 10 gc result in a WT stage race until now is probably something. I guess getting his first pro win today was more important, but still.

Well of course that doesn't count. It's not the same effort as doing it solo and you have no way of telling how big his cut was in the team's performance. Glad for you and your guy he won today, but he's going to need to take 3 or more minutes before the final TT.
I don't know anything about these guys TT but is it a valid comparison that Gall lost 2:10 over 26k in that one TT?
What was on the line? was he even trying?

I wonder if Gall TT before aren't partly because he didn't really put a big effort in the ride (nothing on the table). Maybe he is going to surprise ? (which would mean he suprised himself by contending on the climbs, since he bonked the opening TT)

The microscopic analysis of every slight action Evenepoel takes is reaching Contador levels of hysteria around these parts, Jesus lads.
Honestly, it's one of the reasons I don't visit the forum as much as I used to. Let's just hope he doesn't wind up going to the Tour so we can get a break from some of it. People will still find ways to insert him into threads of course, but at least it will be bearable.

Enjoyable stage today for sure! As someone said above, great course design. And my goodness, and this is no news, but what an amazingly beautiful country it is. Never get tired of looking at it or visiting it. Incredible.

Interesting comments after the race. Gall saying he's in the form of his life and didn't want to wait around "looking at each other" in the group. Not sure how he'll be tomorrow at altitude, and not too worried about the GC as his TT isn't there "yet". Seems like a really nice guy, and sounds...German? I thought he was French. Anyway.

Skjelmose saying the plan today was to lose the yellow jersey? I thought the Dutch commentator on GCN was spot on thinking that was a bit odd in a one week race.

Remco fought tough today. Good to see him do well when struggling a bit. All very entertaining!

Austrian.

Skjelmose said after the stage he gave away yellow to give his team a rest? Guy thinks he's Lance Armstrong or something

We'll see tomorrow if it was smart to take an "easy" day.

There is no doubt he has to put more time into Remco, to have a shot at the overall, and tomorrow is the day to do it, with steep gradients above 2.000 meters on the final mountain and a fast and technical descent to the line.

I'd say he needs at least 35 seconds for the ITT to have a chance (21 seconds more) - If Remco was in peak condition he would need 45 seconds, but he is not.

Yeah, your estimation sounds about right to me.

Looks like the GC group behind Gall (who went over 1min faster) went as fast on the Erschmatt climb as Carapaz in 2021, when they had a different run in to Leukerbad at the end.
