Why would Lotto send their best men to the Giro?

Greipel, Phil and VDB will do the Tour. They're putting all their eggs in the Tour basket.
Yeah 2008 saw the birth of one, but he wasn't great when he started it.

LOL

Why are BMC even bothering to show up with that worthless crappy team?

Will not be competitive. Will not win a stage and will struggle to finish high up on stages.

They are the equivalent to Skil Shimano or one of those smaller teams.

just going to point out, that exactly as I predicted all three Italians are in the squad for team Sky. Cioni, Possoni, and Appollonio

And the sprint double team of Appo and Downing is there.

Amazing job on the thread by the way. Ive only just finished doing our preview

Cnf is definately the best place to be for the Giro. No one hypes the Giro like we do, no one awaits it like we do, most cycling forums dont get as many posts per year as we do for some giro stages Zoncolan, Laquilla, Mortirolo (and i wasnt even around then to add an extra 1000 posts to each of those threads).

No one was as excited about the parcors, nor has spent so much time previewing the Giro as we have.

We have no thread awaiting the Tour comparable to the "off season Giro discussion" i started 5 months ago.

I wont be visiting too many other websites in May.

Holland is cycling's equivalent to the land of the blind, so I don't know if we are the mark of greatness...

Anyway, Lotto have quite a nice team for the Giro. Bakelants might grab a stage win.

I actually like Radioshack's team for the Giro.

It's relatively devoid of the the older riders. Unless they try a silly "ride for Popo" strategy, we may be able to see some more interesting riding then they normally put forth at GT's.

Machado, Deignan, Hermans, Rovny... I'm curious to see what those guys do here. Hunter and McEwen for the sprints too... it's not the normal one-dimensional team that's common for Bruyneel.

Giro Giro Giro! Looks great.

Menchov obviously will dominate :D

Are those TV feed logos likely to be definite? Looks like we won't see much of a few stages.

Will Ballan be peaking for this though? I suppose he could go for the Strade Bianchi stage, hope it rains so theres mud so everyone gets a hardon again about how amazing it is to see riders in mud, and hence a memorable stage. Then again, when the Tour visited the cobbles I didnt see Flecha and co use their cobbled skills (Thor did though- wheelsucking:p), so I dont know if we will neccesarily get the classics riders taking that stage.

Quoted for the absolute truth

But you know that this also means that you have to listen to this for preparation ? :)

Also important now to slowly fill up storeroom with food, set up the emergency power generator, a last shaving, notice familiy and friends that you are ok, even when not showing up for weeks, and slowly start to prepare stomach for intensive Italian weeks.

i am already saving for them beer and peanuts >:3

if by the end of the giro i either run out of money or liver (i have my academic week the week before the giro so it can happen that i reach the giro already without a liver . . . doubtful tho, but still 1 month of daily abuse can't be good :p) anyway if i run out of those there's always

Looking at stage 3 that Passo del bocco is wierd. A 80km climb is what it looks like.

Also tsf your stage 5 profile is identical to your stage 6 one. Dont know which one is correct.
