evans did something that italians didn't appreciated at all.righi did something normal for his team,he had cunego in the front group.both cassani, pancani(the rai commentators) and lots of italian journalists were disappointed by evans acts, mainly because they said "you can't act like that wearing the world champion jersey".of course it wasn't good for cadel's image but things like this happen, the pressure is huge, they are too normal people.
in the morning after that stage, all was over with a handshake and two big smiles from cadel and righi.it was nothing serious.

Yes, the lampre rider also got fined for acting like a **** as well. Cadel should of been at the fonrt therefore he wouldn't of lost that time but you can't stop someone from chasing. The punishment was fair for both riders.

Uhm, the Lampre rider did a normal tactic for his team in a situation like that, he wasn't acting like a ****. Cuddles was acting like one, which he always does when under huge pressure. Shouldn't have touched the Lampre rider.

Guys i have to say if contador does not win this i will be utterly suprised. A few Qs about him though. When did he perfect art of ITT? Who was his most influential DS? And does he have a book that's been translated to English?

The first ever race he entered, was the the national time trial championships and he got a medal at it iirc. So, he was always good at tting.

What do people think of Le Mevel's chances of a good place?

I don't rate him very highly, so can't see him finishing higher than 12th or so.

until now we have two guys saying they will target the etna stage:pozzovivo and caruso.unfortunately,it will be more like who can stay in alberto's wheel?
i'm more and more sure that contador will try to destroy his opponents just like armstrong, first big mtf.

Difficult to know, Garmin have managed some surprises in the tour GC, maybe Le Mevel will be their surprise in the Giro? He got a high placing at the tour in 2009, people will say that was just down to being in a breakaway but this perhaps covers up his decentish performance in the mountains - on the Ventoux stage he came in 11th excluding the breakaways. He got things wrong at last year's tour and his performance in the Vuelta wasnt great. Not sure a mountainous course is to his advantage so i would go with you said.

What about the number of finishers? I assume the sprinters will all pull out after stage 12 unless one has a shot at the points jersey (unlikely IMO given the number of uphill finishes). I guess all their lead-out men will do too, the weaker domestiques will go as well, there are always injuries, illnesses, people who are doing the tour as well may give up later on. Then again some will want to finish the hardest parcours in a while, non-climbers will still be able to help their team leaders early on, some will take it easy for a few days and then try and get in the break, especially those who arent doing the tour and are looking to impress.

The sooner he gets in pink, the sooner he has to stop eating beef. :D

Been a very quiet, build up week. Not much going on tv build up wise.
However, today we have on RAITRE at 17-40CET (75 min) the all singing, dancing (pretty dull) team presentation.
Rai Sport 2 at 20-00CET has a 50 minute film of the 2010 Giro which promises to be a lot more interesting!
