You'll be in Belgium?
Call it Frieten, or even pommes frites if you like.
Just make sure you don't call it French Fries.:D

Again SBS totally negelcts its WA viewers by not showing flanders live. I am not a Western Australian but that is a joke. I think we (australians) might be getting Matt Keenan and Dave McKenzie commentating.

Meh, they are streaming it so it's not too bad.

Spoiled for choice, Big Dave and Sean on the TV, Keenan on SBS stream or some random Sporza stream.

This is awesome.

360° camera in "Dwars door Vlaanderen". You can rotate the camera by using your cursor and zoom in or out by using the ctrl button and dragging your cursor back and forth. Pause it for high quality screens. Not perfect, but pretty damn cool.

Yeah but it is annoying, I'd rather watch it on tv if I had the chance then eating up bandwith with a stream.

This could be the future. On the other hand, the Flanders classics are so well shot by an experienced team that obviously knows the route intimately. Might be good to "roll your own" where the TV camerawork is crap though, like in the Vuelta!

WA are in another part of the country...far far away. They are 3 hours behind. It would mean SBS would need to scrap their programs from 7:30. I don't blame them.

If you like cycling, want to watch cycling on SBS, don't live in WA. On the otherhand, WA get a good gig during the TDF. On the boring stages, they get to see the last 20-30km.

Even when I lived in SA, it was delayed coverage of Paris-Roubaix and it wouldn't surprise me if Flanders is delayed by half an hour there too.

Being able to watch the end of race and still be asleep before midnight outweighs SBS showing races on TV 2-3 hours later.

Thats ridiculous.

btw, if they really were serious about showing it live they would put it on at the same time as the rest of australia. Its still not right that they are not putting it on live.

I cannot wait, I am off to this and taking part in the Sportive the day before :)

For me I cant see past Cancellara, but if someone else was to win it would be Hincapie winning from a breakaway :) One of the best domestiques over the years, has sacrficed so much for others.

But, I think its Fab, Gilbert & Boonen, maybe Flecha & Pozzato too or..........Devolder?

Dear Belgie, the anti-Pozzato hype is not that old. Because that's what it is: hype. I know Belgians and Pozzato could once live together in peace.

pozzato is also unpopular in italy like most of current pro's except scarponi and ricco until recently.

And at the very least it gives you something to do during possibly a couple hours of not really that much happening in a race. ;)

This is Australia , there really is not that much interest in it except from cycling fans. It wont happen during peak hours except for events like TDU or the worlds when they were here. Ill never expect any different but it does not bother me cause i got Eurosport.

actually, the bold part makes perfect sense - mug punter tv viewers will kick up merry hell for not getting their nightly shows at 7.30pm (whatever that is on SBS thesedays), so showing it live won't work for the network bosses...
delayed telecast in the same timeslot (WA) that the rest of the country see it, should be fine...
For the sandgropers it's kinda like watching Fox +2 is all...

@Martin GT - check out the RvV Prep thread in General Road if you're looking to hook up with other forumites for the cyclo and race ;)

I expect an early break with some good riders, but no favorites. Like O'Grady, Voeckler and the like. Because all big teams send someone, nobody feels the need to chase them. And they are all afraid for Cancellara, so why chase only to see him ride away? The classic team of Cancellara isn't strong enough to close the gap either, so someone from the break wins.

I think the formation of the early break could be fascinating this year. Teams with depth like Garmin, BMC, Quickstep will try to get a strong rider out ahead along with the long-shot teams that just need to get on TV. I agree that somebody from the break has a better shot than anybody else who isn't Cancellara. That possibility will mean lots of people will want in the break but the peloton tends to be fussy about who's allowed to go away. Will O'Grady really go for the break? That wouldn't leave Cancellara with much support.

I doubt I'll be awake for that part but it's the first thing I'll look for when I wake up and start checking the reports. To me, watching bike races goes with coffee rather than beer:)

Blasphemy I say!! Regardless of the fact that watching this race in the central USA means 7AM to ~10:30AM CST, we still have Coffee AND Beers going!!

Sbs have 2 channels and a 3rd one broadcasting, if they can't show it on SBS1 they should stick it on 2. No real excuse these days.
