Very happy for Gilbert. Though not as happy as our friends at Sporza, of course.

Next year I'll be hoping for something completely different.

That was surreal. Like a football team 1-0 down with 5 minutes to go trying to waste time...

Are those two brain dead? Or were they running on empty?

Seriously, what amateur is running things in that Leopard car? Two our of three in front, and they didn't do a thing?

Ah well, impressive Gilbert again. At least the Leopards tried, Katusha and others weren't even visible... Not a great race, but deserved winner I guess.

The most unsurprising result in the history of unsurprising results.

How many Tour stages will Gilbert win, 3, 4 or 5?

Schleck attack would never have done a difference. Gilbert was simply the better one out there today.

That is the absolute worst tactical riding I've seen since Cofidis put 3 men in a 5 man break and came 3rd, 4th and 5th in Turkey last year.

Or Androni same only with 4 men against Cunego.

Speaking of which, was he even in the race?

schlecks should of attacked earlier imo

should have attacked full stop.

Say what you will about Don Alejandro, he wouldn't have sat still for 20km to let Gilbert win.

He would at least have contested the sprint if he did insist on sitting still for 20km.

Why is it a Schleck fail?? They were the only ones who made it a race for Gilbert; if you don't have the legs you don't have the legs. 2-3 in La Doyenne; it's Purito/Vino/etc who failed. Andy and Frank did all they could. For sure Van Avermaet ride of the day though.
I think you're right, they tried but there isn't many people if any who can compete with gilbert in these races. Andy doesn't look to be in good form yet.

I would like to congratulate on Andy & Frank for their horrific tactics today. Trusting in Frank Schleck's sprint can never end well.

Oh wow Leukemans. Gotta love someone who shows on the stones AND the hills. (Besides Gilbert, I mean.)

Van Av: killer ride. Gilbert gets ride of the day, though. He's a beast. Carried to the line by his ceremonial Lux escort. Maybe we should start calling him The Pope instead of Menchov.

Now let's start a thread speculating about his chances at the Tour.

Okay, are the Schlecks *** or just embarrassingly conservative?

They didn't want to charge in against a superior foe ;)

But seriously, St. Nicolas showed who the strongest in the group was.
