If you used them every single year they'd lose their magic. Yes I know that they use them lots anyway, but it would feel less special to have a win on those mountaintops if you got a chance every year. And besides, there are lots and lots of hills and mountains, if you're limiting your options by guaranteeing what two of your MTFs are going to be, that makes the Tour route designing even more inflexible than it already is.
I'd like to see the Col de la Bonette and descent into Jausiers used again. That was great fun, finishing on a long and fast descent.
I quite enjoyed that stage, so much happened (like Menchov losing time, John Lee Augustyn going off road etc.). What did people make of the 2008 course? I for one think they got it right. I would love to see Mont Faron included in the Tour, but it's way too small at the top there.
I came up with a stage last night that would start in Liege, and then run down to Bastogne, and then back up to finish on top of the Muur de Huy, a stage combining of L-B-L and Fleche Wallone, it would be a stage that would give a lot of riders, other then sprinters a chance. Like the Schlecks, Cadel all trying to put time into Contador on the Muur (or him doing the same), or an opportunistic rider like Gilbert sneaking away and going for glory. Would be brutal
