Contador beating Valverde to 3rd is still much more likely than winning a stage. The only way for Contador to win a stage is to go on a long solo attack that Sky and Movistar choose not to reel in. He can't go into a break and can't win from a group containing Froome and Quintana, possibly Valverde.

Conti must be way back on GC for Sky and Movistar to let him go on a long solo attack. As it is now, it won't happen. Best chance I see him winning is attacking on a descent. Stage 16, 17 and 18 are possibilites. I'm sure he will try on a least one of those stages.

Contador hasn't shown that he can take time on Froome or Qunitana or Valverde. He needs to wait for a mechanical to attack if he wishes to podium.

Guy won the giro and is still in contention for the podium, and some try to troll into how bad he is? Should have been here in 2013, they you had some material

Hard to see him challenging Froome and Quintana.
You seriously expect him to fight for the podium? He doesn't do that, he fights for the win or explodes in the process.
Sure.
Finally i read his interview : he seems confident for Alpes. Probably he could not win the Tour , but for sure he will attack hard to try :)

Hope he goes for some long breakaways, hanging on to take 3rd shouldn't be the goal for a rider like him. If it rains he may be able to take a stage.

that would be a dream scenario!!! :D But with his current form and with Thomas + Porte duo who can take the entire TS squad plus Movistar climbing goat, I don't think sky and movistar would let AC runs that easy. It would be awesome if they happens to be napping like Purito. But with his fatigue Giro form, I don't think he can hold the long breakaway attack. (2011 alpe d'huez came to mind). It was ouch to see him got passed by Rolland.

I can live with contador being beaten by froome and quintana. By valverde.. Ouch! By TJ... freaking NO WAY. Big huge suck! So even with his yo yoing form... GO AC!!!!! at least got 3rd!!! stage win a long the way if you can. And daring long range attack if you just want to risk everything....

Worst case scenario: An inmolation attack in La Tuissoure or Alpe d'Huez stages.

Best case scenario: Extra "reinforcements" come in the rest day and Contador is able to climb with the 2 best for podium and stage win.

Dream scenario: Extra "reinforcements" come in the rest day and Contador is able to win Tour de France with a long-range attack for the ages.

It basically depends on how the rest day goes...

He hasnt won the Tour in 6 years. Last year, he was 4:08 behind (zero stage wins) when he crashed out trying to take time on a descent. This year, zero stage wins, getting dropped regularly by the podium contenders, 4:20ish back. If you cant see a trend, you are truly blind. He's on the downslope of his career. His team should focus him on lesser Tours (Giro, Vuelta) while grooming a young gun for the TdF.

Warned you last week but no i was being a fake contadorfan

You didn't warn nor predicted anything, you just said you'd rather watch a Tour like 2011. I guess you are happy now.

It just lacks a bit of the long ranged attacks coming in the 3rd week, maybe, maybe if he has the legs. And then he'll get beaten in the last K by some random rider who wheelsucked all his way to victory.

It really is great.

His team needs to find a Tour leader. . .

Ya know what? I absolutely agree with your statement. I think it's time for Tinkof to put all their eggs in someone else's basket. Backing Alberto's wet dreams is proving to be a costly business.

Sagan could've won a couple of stages already.

You people. Sagan always races the Tour this way. He babysat AC on the cobbles stage. That's it. And he's not a cobbles specialist the only cyclists who are arguably better stage races, even if you use ACs current, fatigued form, are Froome and Quintana.

Yeah, maybe you're right.

What I meant to say was that if Alberto shows up knowing he doesn't have the form to win, let your teammates chase stages. I don't see Alberto killing it in the Alps, yet he is still using rather too open-ended a language at this point.

He clearly does not have the form/legs.

Sports isn't all about winning and winning, being the best every time. No one can, it's the way you rise up after defeat. That's what make sports amazing but i don't think you understand that concept.

You only care about riders who can win for you everthing, that's your concern. Contador deserves better fans than that.

On the podium besides Froome would be pretty embarrassing and Froome doesn't deserve it. Needs to stay 9-0-0. Not 9-0-1.

Sky had one really good day, and that's all they really needed. We've seen Porte have one great day before and then promptly blow up the next day. Sky's biggest help is that no one wants to take a risk.

I agree that seeing AC go down to TJ would be an embarassment. Valverde's been able to hang with him the last few years, just he's never been able to do much more.

The issue with your post a week ago was that it sounded as if you would rather see Contador finish 5th and blow himself up in a suicide attack, than see him win the Tour. Whether that was actually what you meant or it just sounded that way because of your generally aggressive posting style, I do not know. :)

4 minutes is a tall order. And there isn't just one man in front of him.
Victories are what counts for him, surely, but it's not the same if you finish the season with the Giro and on or off the Tour podium.
I think he'll try to do better than in 2011.

The best fans want the best for their favorite, as simple as that. Not wishing to him lose a bucket of time to be entertained later on, alright.

And you did say that at some point.

Just ignore it ffs. Don't give him more reason to troll.

Blowing up on an epic attack is a better way to go than slowly wheel hugging to a 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th place finish.

Sure and I don't think anyone would disagree. However in the post in question (about 1 week ago) Miburo wrote that he would rather see Contador lose lots of time and eventually finish 5th because he would be entertained by some big attacks, instead of Contador winning the TDF in a more boring fashion.

Warmfuzzies might well be Maxmartin, he matches very well his level of dumbness and poor knowledge. Which truly would be hilarious given Nibali's state in this Tour, having no Giro in his legs and a centered preparation.

Nah, warmfuzzies has been around for way longer. I remember him trolling AC fans as far back as 2-3 years ago.

“I could follow him (Nairo Quintana) but I didn’t. I’m not exactly sure whether I could follow him all the way. It was an explosive attack and you saw the result of it.

“If I say I’m tired after the Giro then people will say I have excuses. Maybe I’m just feeling the effort of it but other people are also tired out there so maybe it’s a good thing to have done the Giro… For me it’s complicated, it depends on how much the other guys want to risk. There are solutions but you want win with this sort of game or you can lose so decisions will have to be made.”
Enigmatic and puzzling. Could follow, but didn't because wasn't sure if he really could follow? We did see the result. He couldn't follow. And seems like he's trying to make excuses without people calling it excuses.
