Re:

absolutely

TTs suit him a lot . if he comes to 100%, he will be the best among the great on those routes.
I like also MTFs with Ventoux, Emosson,Mont Blanc and the downhill finish via Joux Plane and Peyresourde ( a real tappone!)

I think it is near perfect for him, vamos!

This year was perfect for him.

Contador was a monster in tour 2014, his ride in the last stage of dauphine was insane. But let's stop about it, seriously gets me depressed eveyry time.

Stupid crash......

“If I fall off or if I have to abandon, I would come back in 2017, or if I manage to set up my own team outside of TInkoff, given my contract with them ends in 2016.”
“Whether or not it’s my last Tour is something I will decide. And that freedom to decide prevents me from feeling sad about it…but I would like a last good Tour to have a good ending to it all.”

Ah ha, the real issue is Oleg!!! If he can escape Oleg he may well be riding in 2017 :).

Holy shiiaht. This is huge. With Riis? I'm not sure Contador and Oleg are good friends. Maybe Sagan could join if Oleg quits cycling.

I believe he means his U23 team going ProConti. He will need another sponsor for that though.

They already have some small partnership with Saxo Bank, who also have indicated a desire to possibly come back to team sponsorship in the future :D

Bjarne + his son, + a couple young Danes + AC's U23 team = a new ProConti team of some sort?

Or would AC be better off keeping his teams heavily Spanish and getting a Spanish sponsor? Either way, I think AC can make it happen easier than someone without his high profile can move up a smaller team.

Contador backing down from his retirement statement, that's a surprise.
He's saying the same thing he's said for ages: normally it's his last season, unless he crashes or sets up his own team, but of course he can change his mind.

This interview has been posted here yet but Alberto says 2016 is not 100% his last year yet. He has not decided and will wait until next year. Also claims 2014 tests were better than 2009 and a bad 2014 day was a good 2009. Also believes the giro was climbed faster than the tour except froome attacks hence picking aru to win Vuelta http://www.cyclingquotes.com/news/contador_maybe_its_not_my_last_tour/#EZzpJMR8j43I389Z.97

He also believed his 2013 tests were better than 2009

Think he should keep the Spanish identity. The idea behind the project was to sort of revive Spanish cycling by helping Spanish talent develop. Right now the team consists of mostly Spaniards plus an Italian and a Frenchman. Last season, Belgian talent Kenny Molly rode for their team, he will ride for AWT next season, Alvaro Cuadros already joined that team 2 years ago.

To be honest I don't think the team has a partnership with Saxo? Specialized, Flex, Polartec, rh+ are the main sponsors and Belgian millionaire Remi de Moor is investing a lot of money into the project, he does have a connection with Riis and Saxo as he has sponsored Saxo team for a long time.

Did he really say his 2013 numbers were better?

Sure, he could be lying about last year, but it's easier to believe him when he says his 2014 numbers were better. He had the form to prove it.

The only numbers of Contador that were high during 2013 were the numbers he saw when he stepped on a scale.

Contaodr hasn't performed at the Tour since 2009, he was sub-par in 2010 (didn't even win a stage), irregular in 2011 ( yes he did the Giro but still), awfull in 2013, 2014 got crushed on the cobbles, and 2015 SAME AS 2011. D'ont believe next year will be different might scrape podium but just don't think he has what it takes against the very Best like Quintana and Froome. They have moved the bar lot higher than 07-10 wich was Contador's best. Contador hasn't really improved enough to match them.

:D chubby chub but allegedly he was only 2kg lighter in 2014 (granted that is a lot for a climber but he was super duper skinny in 2014)

“It’s hard to calculate if that’s good or bad for me.” he told El Pais. “In every Tour it’s all about adapting to the route, not having any bad days, and understanding your rivals. Froome, for example, always starts strong, and fades in the last week, Nairo Quintana on the other hand, takes longer to get moving. I’ll just have to adapt and look out for my chances.”
Berto will "adapt" and just peak for 3 weeks :D

By the way in the Spanish version of that interview, he said "I was even stronger in 2014 than in 2009, but my opponents have gotten stronger too so the difference in level between 2009 and 2014 might not have been very noticable for an outsider" or something like that (I'm paraphrasing :D )

Yep. Looking good. And though he's still saying the same of thing regarding retirement, seems he's being a bit more specific about what the other project might be.

You are right - the partnership between Saxo Bank and Contador's foundation is more to do with the stroke and healthy-living-related activities, rather than the cycling teams.
