But he has stated over and over again that the whole season is build upon winning the Tour which is what he should be judged by

I remember Novak Djokovic saying that winning Roland Garros was his most important goal this for 2015. Total failure his 2015 campaign.

You can't draw conclusions of events before they happen. Every situation is different

I read both, I dont really know what your point is... The impression I have gotten from reading the various interviews in the off-season is that all Contador really cares about next year is Tour de France which he hasnt done great in since 2010 which was what Rick wrote. Obviously, if he crashes again or whatever, he will need to refocus and can have a great season despite that, but lets leave that out for now and just assume he doesnt

Okay, I'll spell it out for you.

Which suggests the Tour de France is the only race that matters and the only race which can build hype for next season.

So I responded:
"Newsflash the Tour is not the only race in the world!"
Because obviously Alberto did perform very well in many other races so hype could be justified.

To which rick james responded:
"For the apparent great one, next year it is..."
Which suggests Alberto only cares about 1 race next year, and as we all know Alberto always fights for the win in every race he enters

So I responded
"Really, I thought he'd ride more than 1 race next season."

And then you replied with a statement Captain Obvious would be proud of.

The suggestion that for hype for an entire season to be justified, a rider should have been "prolific" (as defined by Mr Rick James) at the Tour within the last x years (x to be defined by Mr Rick James), is completely ridiculous.

Of course. Trolls love to point out that "Contador hasn't podiumed the Tour since 2009 blabla" but this is a mostly irrelevant fact. You have to take into account many factors not just a rider's results in 1 race.

Look LaFlorecita, all I pointed out was that the only thing which matter for Contador at this point was to win the Tour. Everything else is a bonus, obviously, but we know that when Contador does well in the early stage races, he tends to do that in July as well. If thats enough for you to get defensive....

No, I dont really understand why that comment annoyed you since he havent placed better than 5th since 2010 which I consider Contador to have won. So thats completely true. Now, there are special circumstances almost every year since then including a few Giros, crashes and some beef, but we all know that and can understand why he havent won the race since (or even just podiummed).

It annoyed me because it was obviously a wind-up. Everyone knows just looking at his results at the Tour only tells a very small part of the story.
