Still have to wait and see how much room he has to improve. Obviously it's a good sign, but he was also very good last year in his first race.

Still can't believe it but he leaves this race in a better form than he was in 2014.

I feel like these last few years, everytime we expect him to win/ crush the field, he disappoints. And when we don't expect anything because we're afraid he'll do bad, he just comes outta nowhere and destroys everyone. Go figure lol

Just amazing. According to Strava, Pinot's time today was 7'01". Which is the fastest time by 10s (ahead of Kwiat 2015) so Contador did 6'41"

Whoop whoop!

Pinot described him as unbeatable today. 20 secs is pretty imperious. There were plenty after the stage win.

Bring on PN!)

I know that contador was lacking something in foia but after this performance in malhao, I still don't understand why he lost so much time in that climb

If you have ever been a competitive Athlete you would understand what a difference a day makes. Sugar to *** and the other way round too.

I'm relieved to see Contador winning, it would be dreadful to see him getting dropped by Thomas again. Still, I'm not convinced that he's all that thin and stuff. From what I saw in the warm up for the TT, he looked healthy but definitely not anorexic.

(I had just seen skinny skinny Frank Schleck so maybe that add some bias in this opinion :D)

Too bad about the shitty coverage :/ From the few seconds we got it seems like he just followed Uran's attack, and just continued when Uran stopped. Very impressive indeed

Well he sure knocked out Aru. :p
We don't have any coverage, but in my mind Aru attacked hard, Uran and AC followed him, Aru cracked, Uran attacked again and then cracked and AC continued....very impressive stuff. :p

That sounds pretty much like the 2015 Giro just that Alberto was lucky with Landa ain't being around! :D ;)

To me it seems like Uran attacked with Alberto and Zaka. Zaka dropped somewhere. Uran swinged to the side and Berto rode off. At this point Antunes was coming up from behind. Then later we see a spectator's video of Berto passing with Uran and Antunes coming by later. Aru a few seconds after that. And then Pinot. Seems to me like Aru and Pinot attacked from the main GC group with the intent of getting back to Alberto.

Re:

I just read GThomas recap of the final stage. He dismissed Alberto's attack as irrelevant "Izagirre was the biggest threat after that and I just didn't get carried away when Contador and Rigo (Uran) attacked. I just followed Izagirre all the way"

Wow! Wow! from GThomas?? There was a time when if Alberto attacked, no matter what position he was in the GC, everybody sat up and began to shake. Have we come to this? From GThomas??

Being objective, Thomas was right on his tactical assessment. I wouldn't expect Thomas/Sky not sounding arrogant, it's just their thing ;)
