So did you guys hear Quintana talking to Froome and "subtly" criticizing Contador (while Froome nodded politely, probably not fully understanding what Quintana was saying)?

You can't make out much of what Quintana says, but the words "He made his team attack and blow everything up and then he was left without teammates to defend himself" and "You can't blame anyone else for your mistakes, know what I mean?" are crystal clear. :D
I believe Froome is fluent in Spanish so he probably understood it quite well. :)

He's also supposedly fluent in French, and you can judge for yourself how 'fluent' he really is based on his interviews at the Tour
But his passive spanish would almost certainly be good enough to understand what Nairo said there tbf

He's fluent in Italian. I think his Spanish is very basic.

His Italian is perfect. Very fluent. French is just above average and Spanish very basic.

I'm surprised there have been no AC/Trek news since "they are going to sign on the rest day" CN article from the TDF. I'm guessing the blocking point has been Trek not willing to give him the money he wants and the Vuelta probably hasn't helped with that. So is he going to race in 2017 with an even inferior team as the past 3 years? Makes little sense...
Gazzetta reported he will be in Italy next weekend to make the signing official - not sure if that means he'll sign the contract or if it'll be announced

Have Gazzetta been more specific since ?

Whoever his new team is I hope they can persuade him to concentrate on the Giro next year rather than the Tour. With lots of TT km expected, Froome will surely eat up the 2017 Tour route. Alberto's days of winning the Tour are sadly long gone. Even his chances of a podium there are quite slim. And from what we saw these past few weeks, his days of winning the Vuelta are probably also over (since Froome and Quintana will likely ride the Vuelta again next year).

I reckon Alberto still has a chance of winning the Giro next year, if the field is relatively weak like it was in 2015.

Come on Alberto, go for the Giro-Vuelta double. Show us 6 weeks of elite cycling, not 3 weeks of what could have been.

Finally. I thought he was bringing his press officer Jacinto, his mechanic Fauztino, Paulinho, jesus and De Jongh as it was reported. Maybe that's why it takes so long to finalize the deal? because Trek wanted only 2 additional rather than 5. I wonder, now he has to use a new mechanic guy? Maybe he paid Fauztino from his own pocket?

Hopefully, he finally left the bad luck yellow Oleg colors... and his luck from crashing is improving. New team, new year. Good luck Alberto.

Another year to get his butt kicked by Froome and Quintana. Some guys never acknowledge when they're past their best.

Anyway, I don't buy that *** of him having signed the contract prior to the Vuelta, while making the announcement 4 days after it.

well, here's another chance for him again for the Tour. Froome is doing Vuelta next year. So he'll be more likely to be like this year at the Tour as far as form. So if AC can't beat him in the Tour if his goal only the tour, (as long as there's no stupid long flat ITT), then maybe it's time to hang up the wheel?

I can't understand why he wants to be spanked yet again by Froome at the Tour, when he can maybe do something at the Giro.

Contador goes to the giro and some guys say "he is afraid to ride against froome and quintana". Contador goes to the tour and some guys say "he can't acknowledge he is past his prime". Some people will always complain.

Goodbye Bad GC team

Welcome even worse GC team

To be fair, the only good GC teams are Sky, Movistar and Astana. So there is not much choice here... And they all have the main GC guy already...

Oricas probably TDF Team 2017:

- Chaves
- Yates
- Yates
- Kreuziger
- Carlos Verona
....
