Ask Gilbert, he got a son in 2010 (i think) and had his greatest season the year after.

Explain that ;)
Maybe he would have been even better without the kid ;) Or maybe he is the killer type, and not a softy like Berto.

Imagine that

As Jensie said, all cyclists are different people. Alberto is a real softy and Gilbert probably not. For Alberto his family is just a little bit more important

You said "it can't be good for your cycling career" So you come back from that statement then?

And how you do know how Contador will react on kids? You know him personally?

Wtf are we discussing here?:D Damn lol

No I don't  I together with the majority of people posting on this thread think he will drop another few levels after having kids. Jens showed it depends on the type of person whether they are or aren't affected. The "softies" are affected, and Alberto seems to be a softy.

Don't forget you started this discussion by dismissing the effect of marriage on Alberto's cycling career

Still can't believe that Bertie played the sick card to avoid a beating by the fourth tier climbers on Sky at this weekends Critérium International.

Yeah, shame really. He was delighted to sign Alberto, proclaiming his superiority etc, then gets through all the other nonsense and is now in a position where Alberto doesn't seem to be the same rider.

I was quite enthused by Cancellaras form today though. Some were beginning to write him off as too old etc, where AC is a couple of years younger.

I think AC might be missing some fire in his belly. Must be hard for motivation when you have achieved all major goals and made a bucket load of money by the age of 30!

So defeatist, what about belief in your favorite?? :)

Anyway, not being as strong as Froome is not the same thing as sucking.

18 months ago it would have been the same thing as retiring.

Samuel Sanchez got married and had children when he was barely out of his teens.

Going by the - marriage = lose ability theory, he could have been a multi time TDF winner by now.

No. Why do I always have to believe in my favorite? Why?

yes, yes it is. Alberto should be beating froome, not getting crushed by him and Purito and Santambrogio and Michal Kwiatkowski.

Yup, I'm wondering whether Bjarne will ask Alberto to give up a part of his salary. 5mln for a rider who only manages to finish 2nd and 3rd in the type of races he used to excel in - that can't be correct.

I was quite enthused by Cancellaras form today though. Some were beginning to write him off as too old etc, where AC is a couple of years younger.

Every rider is different though. Alberto was already winning GTs when he was 24. Maybe he's just run out of fuel.

I don't think motivation is the problem, ban and stripping of results should provide him with plenty of motivation.

You don't have to believe but there isn't enough evidence to support your level of pessimism, that he is completely doomed in the Tour. Yes Froome looks stronger but it is not a 100% certainty that he will be stronger later in the year.

He has been dropped by Purito but overall I think he has been better. And would you really back Santambrogio and Kwiatkowski against him in a GT?

He is doomed. Froome is the better climber and he is a much better tter and we all know skyborgs don't decline during the season

He got beaten by Santambrogio and Kwiatkowski on a MTF. That says enough. He sucks.

You start to sound pathetic to be honest Flo, this is exactly the same song you sang before the Vuelta last year, Froomey would kill him...bla bla bla

How about have some faith, the Skypborg train can be split apart too you know, with Riis in the car in the tour, things will look different, hopefully, but it used to be the missing factor and no matter how the season have gone so far for Saxo they do have a competitive team for the tour which can give the Skyborgs trouble too, Rogers, Kreuziger, Bena, CAS, Roche, Tosatto, Zaug, Paulinho is not exactly a team you can just dominate in the mountains, in fact I predict it will be the other way around.

Cheer up, dry your eyes, its not over yet.

It's clear you're new to the forum, it's just the way she is. Once again it shows you to not take women serious considering sports lol (just joking calm down)

You could have a different account or be a guest previously. Never came up your mind?

Love sarcasm.

Maybe LaFlo is quite young and gets overemotional about these things. :)

I do think she has a point that he seems to be looking at likely defeat to Froome in the Tour. But it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that he can turn it around, and it's going way to far to say that he "sucks"...
