Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

I think Alberto wants Paulinho and Tosatto to take the last to spots, but let's be honest, does he really need Paulinho? He already has Hernandez, Kreuziger, Roche, CAS and Rogers as climbers. Only Nicki to protect him on the flat. If he gets caught behind a crash, he needs strong guys to help bring him back. So I guess it would be smart to take two of Bennati, Morkov and Tosatto to the Tour.

Who's gonna ride with Berto for three weeks on the flat? Who's gonna ride at the front of the peloton for 4 hours if Berto gets the yellow? Sorensen? meh

Thanks.

Should just go down to Sierra Nevada around Madrid.

He's supposed to be on reconaissance rides for the Tour. The Sierra north of Madrid has had bad weather recently, with highs of -5C and snowfalls until last week.

Last time he went there to prepare for the Tour he went after Dauphinée (early June) and he reported having caught a flue because of cold weather and rainstorms. That was in 2010

If he wants to ride mountains in good weather he should go after Sky's latest findings: Tenerife! :D

Paulinho is much more then "another climber"

He is good on all terrain and extremely good domestique. In case you forgot he was the one with Contador on fuente de, not hernandez who didn't even manage to stay with the breakaway over the climb. He is also a good time trialist that could be very useful on the TTT, on the TTT of the 09 tour he took pulls all the way and stayed with the team till the finish line in what was probably the most powerful ttt team of the last decade.

Also the fact that he has been winning GT's with Contador since 07 should count for something.

Hernandez and Pires did a lot of work before the Fuente de stage went live.

Bennati and Morkov are just as good for the ttt, if not better.

And the fact that he's been on the same team as Alberto a lot doesn't count. Maybe he's not "another climber" but Alberto needs domestiques for the flat, and on the flat Bennati, Tosatto and Morkov are simply better.

If someone deserves credit for fuente de it's Paulinho and he was also pulling real hard on the flat too. He destroyed that guy from katusho.

Just for that he deserves more than enough credit to be in the tour. If he can get that shape again.

It depends on shape. Paulinho seems to be in excellent shape. What about Bennatti and morkov?

And Paulinho can be used for breakaways in mountains too and for some long pulls in the mountains. I would take him with me.

I'd take Paulhino over Hernandez.
