Which march? Tour used to happen in march?
Tirreno was in March after which Froome became #1 fav. You imply the route doesn't match creating big gaps. My reply is learn to take big gaps as Froome does instead of absurd accusations of inproper stages.

Me too, what I was thinking was, hopefully it starts raining to late to can cancel anything.

I don't want that.

I have seen enough of stage-1 and other routes meant for crashes. At some point of time, i think we should say enough is enough. If they don't modify stage before the last rider has signed up, then they should simply let the stage be.

i don't want to see a good rider lose a month or a year because some a-hol sitting in a/c room thought that it is fun to play with stage finishes. Riders are intelligent folks capable of taking calculated risks. no rider descents a dangerous mountain with the hope of crashing.

In that case their is no reason at all to shorten or cancel. The riders will just take it easy on the descent, so what the problem?

my point is that the riders are not riding through one feet of snow. If the organizers are afraid of one section of road, they can always neutralize that section alone. But whatever it is, inform the riders before the stage starts.

thank you for emphasizing my argument for a safe race.

Decenting is part of the sport, what comes up must come down sort of speak.
And its the same both ways, some are better uphill, some are better downhill, wet or dry, you know your limits, and just have to ride accordingly to your skills, attacking on a decent is in my opinion one of the beautiful part of the sport, so if you don´t feel comfortable decenting, use your breaks.

And I don´t think theres one rider in the peloton who havent studied this stage and the decent from the Alpe, everybody is aware of the road and dangers.

do you think that saxo will send a couple of riders upfront to form a launchpad for AC's eventual attack?

i remember watching sami sanchez do that once, and it looked beautiful.

only roche? :(
can they afford to send one more?

Oh didnt mean only roche. He is just an obvious choice and is a good descender to help Bertie on the dangerous descent. If the break gets a lot of time Bennati could be an option to for the descent and valley

He said that?

he said something like that. will have to search for the actual quote though. not a direct quote, if thats what you mean. there was something like a "gelling" together and riding "for each other" and things like that.

roche navarro bennatti, any other option?

what about rogers or paulinho?

Btw Paulinho has been a tad disappointing in the Tour this year
