movingtarget said:You also get some riders peaking at a younger age. I have a feeling we have seen the best of Contador but it's not based on anything. Just a hunch. He is expected to win the Vuelta but the Tour may be a different story although it sounds as if the route will suit him if the rumours are correct.
johnnycash said:I think you're right, people here are predicting way too much based on past successes.
The theory that you can't ride two grand tours back to back at a high level I also believe is going to be proved false by Froomey.

Michele said:Froome and Cobo did much higher numbers at last Vuelta.
LaFlorecita said:Yes! Hug for you.
The Hitch said:There is no deep meaning to any of those, just obvious observations.
Fidolix said:Really?
Wow, then I better start play the lottery with that kind of luck.
LaFlorecita said:No, you don't think he is right, you hope he is right.
Nothing points towards Alberto being on the decline.
Kwibus said:He looks bored, but the reason of that is mentioned by Publicus.
Actually I expect any rider to be bored during the Eneco Tour.
movingtarget said:He may not be on the decline yet but others are improving. I like watching Contador and I don't hope he will fail.
The Hitch said:I thought it was going to be something like Alberto having a flower on his jersey, or mentioning the support of his Utrecht fangroup, something special and personal, not "Alberto was smiling"![]()

Sørensen said:Not importent if he's the best or not. He makes bike racing exciting, that's reason enough for me to cheer for him.
johnnycash said:Except his tour 2011 and San luis 2012 perfromances, i.e. all we have to go on since June last year.
I think we have seen the best of Contador, I'm not saying he won't win any more grand tours because he can still do that evern at 90% of what he was before, but I don't think he'll dominate grand tours as he did. That is my opinion, you are entitled to yours. I don't hope he will do any better or worse as a result, I am merely a fan of exciting bike racing. I would never wish misfortune on any cyclist.
I also disagree that AC has proved before that you can ride 2 GTs back to back at a high level, because although I won't bring the discussion down to that level, we don't know whether those performances were all 'true'. However much you fanboys/girls adore him, he is a confirmed cheat, for me, that is a taint on his character but also puts a blemish on his past successes especially the Astana and Discovery ones, in my opinion.
We'll see how he goes, but you lot should accept that not everyone is as biased in his favour as you might be.
If AC smokes Froome in the mountains I will stand corrected, but I predict it will be tight, and AC may well come out second best.

Fidolix said:Seeing how easy LaFlorecita get exited when it comes to Alberto, then I thought it must be something easy, but I´m still not so sure I hit all 3 or she´s pulling my leg
They gay thing I was pretty sure about and also the happy Bertie...shes a woman, they dig these things, but the kid thing was a long shot!![]()
