IMO, a silly participation if Contador is not there for the win. What does he have to prove?

He doesn't need to proof anything. But he needs to put more miles on his leg for next year. So nothing to loose nor to proof in my opinion. Not setting up for a high of a goal when you know your condition isn't up there, makes him a realist. He got the best recovery in the peloton and he proofed before that he could ride himself to form during 3 weeks GT, but with injury, that's another whole ball game.

Side note: His comment about his knee still hurts on cooling down, still discomforting. He must have some sort of sore shin every time he finishes the stage. I hope it's not going to swollen or something because of a constant hard force everyday. Stage 6 would be the telling.

I'm hoping Contie has a good showing, but I'm definiteley starting to worry TS don't have much GC expectation based on the team line up. Then again maybe they are only there to help out until he's healed and the road goes up. This will be a good Vuelta in any event.

It's not like they could've lined up a better team.

They ended up mess up with the line up because of UCI sacked Kreuziger. Otherwise Majka and Kreuziger were probably there. Rogers and Roche are definitely can't be in Vuelta. So I guess that's why Basso is hired so Rogers can do tour and vuelta.

:D

seems like froome and contador has this lovey dovey relationship.. like andy and contador. Froome never mentions Nibali, when he did mention, he said, nibs didn't have anyone to challenge him in the mountain. But he did tweet for contador to come to vuelta plus he nominated contador in that video, and contador named him as the favorite to win vuelta... while people are buzzing about quintana....

I was gonna say "don't feed the rivalry between nibali and AC".

But then i realised that Nibali always got crushed by AC, no such a thing as rivalry ;)

Indeed how can it be a rivalry when AC either is out of shape, as the lazy ******* that he is, or when he for once manages to get out of the Betancur zone, he can't manage to ride his bike properly enough to not hit the tarmac

A lot of water but hardly any ice. If they aren't visibly uncomfortable when having the water poured over them, they're effectively dodging the challenge. Extremely disappointed.

See Usain Bolt's glorious challenge for how to do it right.

Still better than Nibali's though.

When will you provide new material? The whole bike thing is getting old.

God forbid that contador crashes for once or has a bad year for the first time in his life, damn this contador guy sucks

I agreed with you... no rivalry, we are on the same page here m8

Nice, i like you after all. Let's do it next year, there's no point doing it now.

This is from the CN live ticker. Anyone know anything about this rumor?

16:02:23 CEST
"Alberto Contador is still going strong at the Vuelta, despite rumours that he may abandon. The Spaniard is still feeling the effects of his Tour de France crash, but has kept his loses to a minimum so far. Here is what he had to say after yesterday's stage."

It can still be cold. 5C water is freaking cold but won't have any ice.

Two "reporters" on twitter started the rumor. It's essentially bull****.
