There is none here which i can recall who has doubted that he is feeling something in his leg. It would be strange otherwise. The question is how much?
Wasn't it true that that he BROKE his right-leg's shin on July 14? How many days since? If true, and I'm no doctor, then I got a wild guess: he will be in pain and won't be able to produce enough watts to be competitive.

Good. Question is why on earth are you here making medical verdicts then?

Why did you remove your post NoBalls? This was a good point:

Its not realism wanting to have him x-rayed because of his bouncing on the bike during a slow ride.

Have none of you read what Alberto said in an interview before the race? The doctors wanted him to have another xray, but be refused because he didn't have time for one and because he would not change his decision anyway.

AFAIK:

Yes, officially he broke his shin. But, don't be fooled. He suffered a small fracture in the center of the tibial plateau of his right shin. This is a non-load-bearing area: this means that although he was in pain, it wasn't so bad that he could no longer walk or ride. Such a fracture takes a short time to heal, especially compared to a normal tibial plateau fracture.

And although I'd never say no to pictures of Alberto and his dogs, I fail to see how the image you posted is relevant in this discussion.

Why? Because this is a forum, I'm entitle to my own opinion and I use common sense. C'est tout. Cheers! ;)

With you its an overly pessimistic opion repeated as a mantra and i´m sick and tired of it. I´ve never said i expect anything from him tomorrow but whats clear is the need of bringing some belief in this rider.

Are you even a fan btw?

I guess No_Balls approves this post even though you're not a doctor ;). Picture is relevant for 2 reasons: the fracture was less than 2 months ago and he said: "more slowly that I wanted".

Btw, I don't dislike Contador at all. I'm being realistic and has nothing to do with being pessimistic.

Please do not put word in my mouth. Unlike you i assume she has done the homework of these kinds of injuries (must admit i havent) and here offers the most optimistic diagnose. How it look like we will see tomorrow. But you just seem intrested to bait after negative emotions here, why is that?

And realistic is to post "he will DNF" as a mantra? Sure, i am open for this possibility too but you just seem overly eager to rub it in our faces.

Indeed he Should have been xrayed Before he even started! But he was going to ride regardless of whether it was healed enough or not.

DNF means in this case, he realizes there are other races, including Ponferrada this year, and he should not endenger his health and/or the rest of his career. You have such a negative way of seeing things bro. Chilax!

I believe Alberto is the best bike racer I've seen since Hinault. I believe he is still deadly when on form, that his best days are Not behind him. I believe he is a Warrior and a Hero for even riding this Vuelta.

Before the race he said he would take it day by day and 'perhaps' be able to win a stage in the final week. He is riding much more strongly than expected to date. Tomorrow we will see if he can truly raise his expectations above a stage win in week 3. If he can anything is possible :) If not he will still do his absolute best!

And since you are not a doctor these types of remarks step outside the boundaries of simple opinions. Sure, you are entitled to them but dont be surprised if you get called out for these types of speculations (which are the correct word for it).

Do you guys seriously believe Alberto would jeopardize the remainder of his career because of "eventual stages in the last week"? Would his sponsors and Oleg allow that? Would he? ***** please. :)

You make AC look downright stupid. All heart. No brain.

So using you own logic, then you are a doctor because you say the opposite, right? ;)

PS: I'm not afraid of being called out, are you? And having valid arguments are NOT speculations. #TheEnd

Nah. My logic is that i assume he and those in the know knows whats best for him and that his health is not seriously compromised with this participacion. I do believe this despite knowing he didnt take the last x-ray because he didnt have the time (which is bad-***).

He may or may not abandon the race but i dont believe he is playing russian roulette with his body all the same, nor for that matter people are letting it happen.

All and well now. At first you didnt post it as arguments though but as a mantra to stir up negative emotions.

Contador interview on Eurosport just now...says he is riding for 'the overall' ..or at least the translation recounted that

So not sure why we were lead to belive he was riding for stages ??

We were lead to believe he was going for stages because that is what AC said before the Vuelta started. Of course many here didn't really believe him.

At this point, Degenkolb had 2 stages wins in 2012 and he had won the 5th stage as well. Will it be 5 wins at the end? "La manita" :p
Stage 6 at the Vuelta 2012, Contador was dropped by Froome - Purito at Jaca, and lost 18 seconds which is my prediction for tomorrow

18 seconds would be just fine. Tomorrow is a Real Test and I think the others will be gunning to see just what he has.

Today he did a lot of bouncing on the climb, and had Square Shoulders doing it  Looked much better than yesterday IMO.
