It is an old 6 shooter. He shot once today. He will leave a big impression on 5 different stages.

I do Contador's gun salute when Im riding my bike, pretty much everytime Im out on my bike. I see hills approaching, I go my hardest up them, pretend Im getting chased by rivals and do the salute as I crest the hill. If I could have ONE sporting wish: it would be to win a grand tour i.e. in the way Pantani or Contador does it. One of the best feelings in the whole world must be riding away from your rivals in the high mountains, u attack and your alone, everyone worked hard but u left them behind. What an incredible feeling that must be.

I'm really happy about the red jersey! Alberto is a monster!

I still have to read the the last pages, but I have one thing about the strength of the team. Tinkoff is really weak, but after what we have seen Contador is the strongest rider currently. Now remember Giro 2011 and Vuelta 2012. The GTs where his team were also really weak, but he managed to win both of them. If he really feels he is the strongest, then he will not wait for the others to attack, but he will go. Still long way to go, but watching this Contador I can't see he will lose this. He is strong and he is smart and also he is Alberto Contador. The perfect combination.

unless skyborgs manage to produce some Dauphine-style moment - if we can't have it, he'll not have it for sure (run away from Bertie's doms and help someone in a break)

Wow, Wow, Wow. What a road Warrior :).

He is riding very strongly. Looks to be the strongest of the contenders in both climbs and TTs.

His margin is small but no one else seems good enough to do anything about it. Movistar as a team could hurt him and so could Katusha. He'll just have to use their trains because he will be isolated early.

As we've all been saying since TS was announced, his team is very weak. Now he has something to defend and that team won't be up to the job IMO. But he will fight to the bitter end to wear Rojo on the final stage and he looks strong enough to pull it off.

This man just never ceases to deliver performances that get me out of the chair yelling! What a Legend!!!

A preview to what VN would have been dealing with....this wasn't even a proper climb. :) The acceleration that AC put in which quickly distanced VN was nothing like the attacks that AC showed he was capable of THIS year in the CD. He said in an interview that he was just "testing his rivals." He would have done even more in the mountains and that is where things would have been won.
Now over to the new thread created.

Indeed, Alberto would have destroyed him on the climbs.

This is the vuelta. There are almost no serious multi-mountain stages, so he doesn't have to worry about being isolated, at least not like in the dauphiné. Besides CAS, Zaugg and Hernandez will perform now that Bertie's in red

Imagine if Contador is in a position where he's alone at 50 km in a 15 man group and they start attacking him on the flat for example, or on not really steep climbs.

Will Navarro help him? I wonder.

just watched with sound:p yes he does sound bad, but that might have something to do with the stage.

Remember, Froome always coughs after a stage :D

Yes. Maybe Aru will get his teammates to work too and they become best buds.

Hello guys, I hope you enjoyed this good days for my compatriot Alberto and now watching him in red.

He was really damaged after Le Tour, so he is still recovering, he said he just trained seriously one week, and he thought about to win a stage at the end, so he will improve a lot from now on.

I am excited to see how he fly in ancares and get the moon with his bike, first human being to do it. :);)

aaaahh please, not happening again. I hope Hernandez isn't sick and give it to Alberto. Wasn't that the case with Alberto got sick on the last mountain stage 2012??

Landa is friend of a friend of mine and he is on form, I talked with Landa in Burgos. He will try an stage, he is not a man for GC. Maybe tomorrow is his day with of his fans helping.

Kangert is helping and he did a good ITT today.

I dont see Landa helping Aru at the moment.

Who still finished higher on a stage (2nd on sunday) than Contador until now ^_^
I did not know about Landa and Kangert form problems, I thought the first was good at Burgos, whilst Kangert aimed to prove something here? Alas, any helping hand welcome I guess, and I think he'll find some. No worries.

out of form is perhaps a bith harsh, but Kangert has been dropped at about the same time as Hernandez on the previous mountain stages, and Landa is perhpas somewhat more of a stagehunter this Vuelta rather than helper

Grande Alberto:)

A reminder of one legged killing machine :D. I wonder what TS strategy now. At least De Jongh is the DS. TS team looks the weakest out of the GC contender. That worries me. I hope they learned their lesson from Dauphene. Time for hernandez, zaugg, sorenson and paulinho to put their money on their leg. Benna and Tossa have showed their beast side on the flats.

His team hasn't been showing itself a lot but it wouldn't surprise me if they step up now that he is in red. Paulinho rode surprisingly well today.

I asked Tiralongo in Aguilar de Campoo, after fuente De stage if Contador has buyed a house for him.. he looked at me bad, but what can I say? he must pay well.

I dont think Aru will do that, but Nieve did, so, important people could do it, Alberto is an expert on that.
