It's not a matter of opinion, though. Age is always a factor.
Thats true, but if man trains hard, has a good health,he can be on top till 40 or more.Everyone is different. But my point was that,if cycling will be his priority in life and will dedicate himself,he can be there for a long time...most of sportsman just shift themself more to personal life, and thats the reason they decline faster than they should imo.

I don't think anyone has ever tried to pull the triple off. If he manages and that's a big if, he can always try to go full yolo on the Vuelta and abandon if he's just too ****ing tired

Number of Contador wins (AFAIK):

100 - 30 = 70

2014: 9
2013: 1
2012: 5
2011: 9
2010: 9
2009: 11 (12 including TTT)
2008: 10
2007: 8
2006: 2
2005: 5
2004: 0
2003: 1

so that would be 70/71 indeed :)

Haven't you heard? 43 is the new 20.

I'm confident we in a far distant future will speak about Papi Contador rolling home his 20th GT. Making "The Cannibal" look like "The vegetarian".

True story.

“At the Tour he was the best, he was very strong, although I wasn’t as good in the Vuelta as I was in France, where I had the best level of my life. I was anxious to get to the mountains but I fell before them,” Contador said.

I was trying to forget about this, now I'm imagining his hunt for 2:30 in the mountains and how incredible it could have been watching him put the yellow jersey in the red zone. Not sure how any realistic cycling fan could suggest Nibali could follow Contador in the mountains.

It's a shame he never got to show just how good he was.

Huge Conta Fan here. Reading his comments on his tour form. Make me wish like heck seeing him fall in Le Tour was a bad nightmare. Seeing that tour with him attacking to get back that time would have been incredible!

Remember "the second place is no good!" AC

Let the Vuelta be a shout to ASO. "You need the best riders in the world at your Grand Depart. Design a course which is fair to all. And the big guns will fire!

Nice to see the fanboys can apply logic when it comes to Contaodr even if they fail to do so when it comes to other riders.

Contador does some nice wheelsucking - "Yeah, it the right thing to do, you know. Strategically, it's the best move. Anything else would be stupid. What, we are only thinking logically!?"

Evans sucks some wheel - "OMG, he is such a boring rider and an idiot. He should clearly attack, what an idiot."

Contador fans, using logic since september 8th 2014.

Evans wheelsucked by default. If he'd be in 5th place in GC, he'd wheelsuck himself to 5th place.

Contador only wheelsucks if its the best way of getting the 1st place in GC. If he's in 5th place, he'll attack if he has the legs to do it.

I think you get the difference

Every rider wheelsucks from time to time. That isn't what makes a rider a "wheelsucker." By definition AC ain't no wheelsucker. The defense calls its first witness:

its 2nd... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6Ih76G30-M

its 3rd... don't want to search for anymore vids, but he actually attacked this year in the Vuelta....he didn't only gain time on those two mountain stages. :)

As already said above, Contador is in red, he is in the leader's jersey , it's the others' task to do the attacking moves to try and win the thing not Contador.
You're simply criticizing him for applying basic cycling strategy when you're the leader.

Have you ever seen Contador wheelsucking while not being GC leader? Never. I have in mind Dauphiné 09', but he wasn't there to win.

And you're certainly not gonna compare AC with Evans, that is the most stupid example.

I think his point is that considering Evans' riding style and max capabilities, following someone's wheel is the best tactic for him, no matter which place he is in GC. If he has no power to attack, then just draft. And if you consider that wheelsucking, then any instance in which rider just sits on someones wheel (including Contador riding Froome's wheel) is wheelsucking. If you do not consider that wheelsucking (Contador's ride for example) then don't classify Valverde, Ewans or Gerrans as wheelsuckers. Only they know how they feel or whether they are capable of attacking or dropping someone, and if they arent then they just choose best available tactic for them- drafting.

Nobody is really classifying Alberto as wheelsucker- it is double standards that are ****ing people off.

People don't care whether Evans has the legs or not. They got used to being unmerciful to the others and lenient to Alberto on the same occasions. And it's absolutely OK for very big fans who are always big dreamers.

Cadel WAS a boring rider in the past. He always just followed (even when he had the incentives to attack - i.e. when he didnt wear the leaders jersey). BUT the last 5 years or so of his career he became much more aggressive and it paid up I might add.

Rogers, I might add, also turned much more aggressive this year and it has paid off as well. He himself says he kinda got rid of the fear of losing and self-doubting.

Contador has always been a very aggresive rider - even when wearing the leaders jersey. He has begun to learn to add a bit more defensive tactics when needed (i.e when he is already ahead). Also the fact that he has immense respects for Froome also play a role. He wasnt afraid to attack Valverde and JRod but obviously had much more respect for Froome. I think the lessons from 2013 play a role here.

Finally the fact that Contador knew that he wasnt at 100% played a role. He could attack explosively, but he couldnt maintain the thrust for a sustained amount of time, which is why he waited till the last KM.

I dunno if this has been posted from other sources already but regardless it deserves a repost:

- I called the dr. Manuel Leyes says Vuelta winner in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS.
- He sent one of his men, César Flores, back to my home address, where he performed some kind of surgery on me.
- He opened the wound on my leg again and made it clean.
- I could only get a stunner in the area around the wound - and not on the wound itself. I had to stop a sock in his mouth due the pain. I could not stand having to watch another Grand Tour on television, said Contador

There was already an article about that yesterday on the frontpage of CN. ;)

Yes, if he needs more points to secure #1 on the WT ranking he'll go to Beijing

It's more about "have to". there is no way he can remain WT #1 if he doesn't ride Beijing.
Valv will easily score some points in WC. Lombardia is more Valv territory than AC territory.

What i dont know is whether AC wants to top WT.
