David Lopez: At Sky we don't believe Contador will ride il Giro:confused:

For Sky, not focusing on the Tour = Does not compute?

I actually find it quite odd that people doubt Contador about this. He's been pretty clear setting his stall out. What will he gain if he backs out now? Apart from dissembling about immediate tactics on the road - and who wouldn't in an interview so as not to alert your rivals? - he's always struck me as pretty honest / direct about his plans.

Seems to be a lot of over-analysis of this double stuff, as if he's some kind of **** Dastardly character with a 'cunning plan' to wrong-foot his rivals. Maybe I'm naive, but I just take it at face value - he wants a new challenge to rise to and, without underestimating how much he probably still enjoys winning them, and indeed, wants to win the Tour at least once more, 'yet another GT' just isn't enough at this point in his career.

Guess we'll see come May. :)

"It wouldn't be the first time Contador says one thing and does another."
I think he's referring to the Vuelta when he said he wouldn't be able to ride it due to the knee injuries. Comes across as a sore loser though...

Another quote that got my attention: "We've analysed Nibali's Tour data and it would have been really difficult to win it."
It seems they keep crunching the numbers and make some sort of truth out of it. Yeah I don't really like Sky :p

Contador is riding the giro for sure. Sky are idiots if they think he's lying, Contador gains nothing from lying.

I agree that Contador's comments usually should be taken with a grant of salt, but this is completely different.

Sky don't seem to get how sniping and mean-spirited they come over with this stuff. Baffles me that they always seem to get the PR so very wrong.

Strikes me they'd be better to keep these kinds of thoughts to themselves, and make their point on the road.

BTW - Anyone any thoughts what this 'biggest news in cycling' stuff Tinkoff said about some announcement at T-A is all about?

I'm struggling to believe it is anything to do with signing a rider or solely about his team. As narcissistic as Tinkoff even he knows that that's not the "biggest news in cycling".

My guess is something to do with race/team funding structure, revenue sharing etc. Given the timing possibly with RCS, possibly for the Giro...

Or he's talking pish again

Some people speculated that they might announce Bjarne's ban - as the T-A presentation is around the same time as the ADD report is supposed to come out - but I can't see how they could spin it so that it comes out in a positive way  (the way Tinkov said it it would seem like a positive thing)

Agree, maybe a sponsorship with a big Italian company or something like that.

yeah, oleg seemed pretty excited about these news, he wouldn't announce bjarne's ban that way "biiggest cycling news ever" lol
If that was the case, they surely wouldn't say anything about it at the moment.

I've read lots of rumors that it's about a 2 years renewal contract with Contador and perhaps oleg was just so glad it happened because he thought AC would retire at the end of this season

But that double isn't as prestigious:)

I know, but the Tour is more prestigious and the nr1 priority race should come first. Going for the Giro-Tour double will only result in winning the giro and getting a top5 placing in the tour. It was many years ago he won the tour. Winning the tour and going for stages in the vuelta would be a great season. But I guess that he wants goals that motivates him, and going for the double is his motivation at this time.

But it was a loooong time ago he did win the Tour, we are talking as if he has been winning it every year. Big Alberto fan though, hope he has a great season.

Tour-Vuelta was his goal last season. He was only a crash away from getting it. Now season, new goal. Giro-Tour is a natural goal for someone of Contador's caliber.

This.
The Vuelta was always in his plans last year.

Sky really is a team of indoctrination. 100% bots. They don't do anything good to their own riders.
Have you listened to a recent interview from EBH? He said he is heavier now and feels better....that he is finally allowed to do Nordic Skiing again and that he feels freer now.
The only things Sky know is talking crap about clinic related subjects ( to take us for idiots) , diet ...more diet...and Tour de France.
The way the team is managed is horrible (Dave B.) Single minded idiots. A very cheap copy of US Postal.

We who?
He'll get better than a top 5 at the Tour. He'll at least podium. :)

So David Lopez has been a professional for 10 years and one comment of his has gotten him more publicity than all of his results have combined.
LOL.. probably because that one comment was about Contador... you know how it works! go name dropping when your own name just would raise an eyebrow.. Lopes who!

What GT will Majka do this year? I was hoping he would lead a GT this year as last year his TDF(with the Giro in his legs) was great. I would think someone like Majka will not want to be a dom when he is still young surely he will have to leave soon?. Kreuziger i hope gets sorted though he is my fav rider on Saxo.

i think he'll be for sure the Tour (I read somewhere. sorry can't find the source) And I bet he is going to the Vuelta too.

btw. what do you guys think about this article:
Lopez doesn't think that Alberto will do tour-giro. He even said team sky doesn't believe it. PR move?
edit: sorry for duplicate topic. But I was curious of what you guys think? is it a PR move from sky? or is it to make sure alberto will actualy do it (even though he will) coz' it's benefit sky with bertie and his giro leg.
