No, I believe you are right, it isn't. But it was mostly to highlight Contador's income or wealth (I think) though like I said before, its probably not even an accurate number, therefore not meaning much  Sorry if I mislead anyone, just wanted to throw this "fun statistic" out there :D

It sounds pretty funny,Alberto is poor sportsman with comparison to big 5 of spanish sport
Contador 6€
Lorenzo 16-18€
Gasol 19$
Nadal 25-35€
Alonso 32-36$
:D

note:numbers form Rafa and Alonso are without sponsors deals :D

If you include alonso and lorenzo you might as well include martha sanchez and Juan Carlos Ii

Also there's gonna be about 50 spanish footballers who beat contadors wage.

Because Alberto Contador alone makes about 5 times as much as the best paid Argos rider?

contador is paid outside of the team budget and by private sponsors for almost 50% as well. like specialized

It's prob even more.

How much does Contador make btw? I'm assuming specialized pays a lot of his paycheck. Excluding everything else, how much does Saxo/Specialized pay him a year?

5 million euro?

6 million before the bann, when he signed with saxo

not really  maybe 5-10 spanish players that make more than contador. but even that I doubt. for instance sneijder is best paid player in italy and makes 6 million a year. in spain they pay less, except madrid and barcelona, but only handful will be paid more then that. in england they also pay less than in italy, save city and chelsea.

I think the most paid footballer is Eto'o but I might be wrong

As far as I know, the players earn considerably more in England than they do in Italy, though its primarily United, City and Chelsea doing the heavy lifting in this department.
The development in recent years with Paris SG and City emerging as big money clubs has, however, given the salaries and general prices a ridiculous boost.

I chose Alonso and Lorenzo cos they ARE sportsman.Footbalers are no comment, but 50 is too much. But I've got your point.

That is for very interesring disscusion, unfortunately off topic. To sum up,maybe it is not real sport, but at least it is a sport.:)

Im a person who follow cycling, tennis, motorsport, golf, snooker, football etc. and these are very very diffrent activities, but I declare them all with the word 'sport'

With the amount of g-force F1 drivers get to endure, they have to train a lot to be able to handle that. Imho it's definately a tough sport.

that simply isn't true. teams like united have a salary cap. they made an exception for van perse who makes 5 million a year. it's also the reason sneijder doesn't go to united, because he will be paid less than at inter.

Golf, Snooker, Dart are not sports to me. Its all subjective I know, but thats just how I see it.

Also I know its very tough to be a F1 driver. But still its not really a "real" sport to me. The actual bike is ofcourse an important part of bicycling, but its in F1 the actual car and its mechanics just have to huge of an impact for my liking. But really its all subjective (0:

A lot of things attracts me about cycling but one thing is the mano-a-mano battles. The look into your opponent's eyes on a tought climb before u lauch your attack, the look on riders faces when they go into pure survuval mode on the climb. There are just so many things in cycling that appeal to me that other sports dont offer. But again, its all subjective. Some ppl get more out of F1 and golf, fair enough :)

They might have a salary cap, but that hasn't stopped them from making Rooney and Van Persie among top 5 of the best paid players in the premier league.
Rooneys contract was improved greatly after the incident a couple of years ago, and Van Persie is reportedly on the same, though he was offered £300.000 a week from City

You clearly are not up on footballers salaries. Van Persie makes 5 mill a year that works out at about 90 K a week. RVP makes much more than that, Rooneys last contract was 180 K a week. RVP will make somewhere near that amount. United continually break their so-called salary cap.

Contador himself in an interview with some f1 commentator said he spoke to Alonso about how Contador won a close 2010 Tour vs Schleck because it was up to the athlete whereas Alonso lost some close race because it was up to who had the better car.

I saw this intreview few months ago...Anyway its subjective, like cimber said.It is a sport for me,its about technique of driving, physical condition(of course 1000 times less than in cycling),mental condition...

But because of this(quote below) is cycling number one for me,then follow tennis then big gap basketball, box, golf, motosport etc.

A lot of things attracts me about cycling but one thing is the mano-a-mano battles. The look into your opponent's eyes on a tought climb before u lauch your attack, the look on riders faces when they go into pure survuval mode on the climb. @Cimber nice citation about cycling;)

That's why they say :" It's not about the bike" ooops..really didn't Andy and Alberto use specialized that year? if not they should give Alberto a little more incentive next year :)

saying f1 isn't a sport is wrong and it isn't even up to personal opinion, you need superhuman reflexes and extreme phisical endurance just to be able to properly drive an f1.

clearly most people have no idea what driving an f1 is like, the car's aerodynamics only work at high speeds, if you go too slow you will just slide out of the track as the car literally have 0 grip, at such speeds the next corner comes so fast that the average person won't even have time to process the information that the corner is coming before they get there. then there are the massive G forces they endure all the time when breaking, cornering and accelerating, forces strong enough that if you concentrated them on a single point of your body (like a punch) instead of being spread equally over the body they would crush bones and organs most likely kill a person.

guys like alonso and vettel score twice as much as airforce pilots on similar reflexes tests and are capable of staying 100% focused for like 4 hours straight while enduring all that plus extremely high temperatures while only drinking ice tea which after a few minutes of race is more like fire tea.

and this is all without even considering the driving skill needed be fast enough to win a race.

does this look like an unprepared athlete to you? that's alonso by the way looking strong enough to prolly beat any poster on this forum over a climb as he is only 67kg and is capable of following pro's over tough training rides.

I don't have a picture of it but I remember climbing the Tourmalet during one of the 80's Etape du Tour side by side with Alain Prost and although none of us would challenge the Maillot a poix, Alain was impressive on the bike

Now I¨m just waiting to hear Ryo saying "that´s not true...course I know everything..." when fact is he don´t know s...

Ofc F1 is a sport, and a very tough one, to be able to keep concentrating for so long requires a phenomenal physical endurance and fitness.
