I think it was meant in the context of his ban.

Some think that still might be an issue, if you look at basso and valverde it might be true although his ban wasn't 2 year.

Anyway yea you're right, it was in that context.

If he's not doing the Ardennes he should have entered Romandie. He does need some racing in his legs, or is he afraid he'll be demoralized if he loses to Froome and Porte again.
Don't think he'll ride TOC. Asturias is probabaly his alternate option in May.

I think he needs to go to some serious high altitude training and get a good base. He said that he was tired because he started his season earlier and without a good base. So there you go. Go get the good base then come back and play with Froomey and little richie again.

Not to forget, his words to Bjarne the first year of his contract when Bjarne wanted to make numerous changes to his training schedule: "Bjarne, just give me 30 days and I´ll be ready for the Giro" but of course he was also a couple of years younger then. Now that he got a full season to prepare in, I don´t think there is any reason to be worried.

If he had dominated the Vuelta last year then I wouldn't be worried just now.

He didn't dominate Vuelta last year

He was the smartest rider, with the biggest balls. However he was definitely not the best climber of the race.

He was the best rider of the race. Puritos original advantage over Contador came mostly from time bonuses.

And cracking someone for 2 minutes isnt purely tactics.

That's what he said right. IF he had dominated the vuelta he wouldn't be so worried

According to purito he was clearly the best in the race

He said that he was even in the giro with hesjedal but in the vuelta he was superior than Contador.

I don't really see it though. Purito like to talk some smack :D

Well it difficult to deny that Purito either matched or dropped Bertie with the exception of the TT and Fuente de where Bertie Cracked him wide open.

This years Bertie doesn't seem to be even at Vuelta 2012 level yet :(

Hope he finds his legs soon!!!!

I guess you haven't seen stage 4 of the vuelta. And in some stages that purito won against Contador i felt that Contador was at least on par but purito still had Moreno and could then jump to Contador with his sprint.

I agree with parrulo on some part though, this thread is not about laflo but about Contador, pm her if you want to know something about her.

It really happens too often.

Anyway if Contador doesn't do the ardennes we'll see him back i think in the dauphine.

Don't think he'll do TOC right?

No. i don't think he'll do TOC. i don't know just my guts...:D He probably would rather do the spanish race somewhere in europe. TOC road is so freakin wide like a football field and windy too.

Indeed I did...as I recall it Sky caused a crash setting up an echelon; Valverde was a faller and had a desperate chase, eventually losing the jersey to Purito. Bertie and Froome made a move and gained some ground but were reeled in by a Katusha lead chase and all 3 finished together. So what did I miss there?

If you reread my original post just what do you disagree with?

it looked like purito tried but couldn't go with the froome and contador move but since they could reach an agreement on work sharing the group eventually reeled them back. i think that's what milburo is talking about.

Getting away unfortunately isn't enough, one has to stay away. Bertie got away a few other times and was caught also. Fuentes de was when he wasn't caught and when getting away made a difference :)

Why do you have to defend Contador's Vuelta performance all the time vs. Purito's? The latter had the advantage he was in the leader's jersey, so of course you're gonna have a bad time dropping him, especially with Moreno's support in the finales.

Contador showed he was the best, smartest and most consistent rider by still being able to distance Purito after the 2nd rest day. He was showing great determination and fighting spirit throughout the race, which he normally would only do in the first week. But apparently, some of you want complete domination, a two-week borefest by Contador, who suddenly starts gifting stages all over the place, and who only cares about wheelsucking and saving energy in the leader's jersey.

Yep exactly, contador didn't really want to work with Froome since he thought he was the biggest danger. It wasn't worth it to try and take a bit of time on purito.

And also keep in mind that the climb then was pretty much 3,4% the whole time.

Wheelsucking and saving energy in the leader's jersey  does giro 2011 ring a bell. And yes I want complete domination :D

Kreuzinger (to the Rai) expecting Alberto for LBL, and let's see what we can do. :)

I guess Roman pretty much 'spoiled' it.

Contador will ride LBL and FW it seems.

I would say 95% confirmed. Hopefully Kreuziger's win can inspire him.

A fighting Contador at LBL (or FW, if he's there) guarantees a better race. :D
