I assume what you are trying to say is that a proportion of Contador's female fans have chosen Vos in the overall poll. How could you know that?

I mean, its a nice assumption in a way, Sir Fly, as I suppose it reflects well on us girls who like A.C., suggesting we appreciate the talent of the riders of both genders. Plus, perhaps, aren't so stuck on one rider as other fanbases might be? It's a nice thought, but honestly, I’m not sure that you can make that leap from the data available.

I mean, isn't it just as possible that a proportion of Contador's male fans, or both male and female fans, also appreciate womens' cycling? Indeed, I would guess (a guess, I'll admit) that there are significantly more male fans of cycling than women, so you might assume that the latter is more likely given that there is a significant % shift between the polls.

Unless there is something else I'm missing?
Contador's fans, yes. Gender split? I'm not sure. Let's try to enlighten.
What's the gender of Nibali's and Valverde's gain in the feminized poll?

I really don't know. Do you? How? Their relative percentage hasn't changed that much between the polls, if that's what you're driving at. Are you saying that Nibali and Valverde's fans don't follow womens' cycling much? Don't like women cyclists? Are more entrenched in their opinions? Seems a bit ungenerous. I like to think people who have to good taste to appreciate Vincenzo Nibali can appreciate the skill of other riders.

Sorry if I'm being thick!

(When you say feminized, I take it you mean that there are now women cyclists involved in the options, since the voters - from what you said before - are the same as in the best male rider poll?)

Yes, the poll with female options in it.
It's reasonable to expect the votes would disperse at least in the same direction, if not in an equal amount.

Are you really saying that you think it is somehow only A.C. fans who can entertain the possibility that a woman might be the best cyclist of the year? Wow. That's quite an assumption! Can't agree with you there, Sir Fly. I'm sure lots of Nibali and Valverde fans are just as ready to give credit to Vos's accomplishments.

Why does it mean the voters that changed their mind are women though?

Anyway - sorry, must go to bed. Need my beauty sleep and all that! G'night!

I don't, quite, agree.
You can see there are other appreciators of the female cycling besides Contador's fans, but that hardly reflects on Nibali's and Valverde's results.
Kwiatkowski has only dropped by around 15% of his non-female result, without dropping in the ranks. Insignificant in a comparison to Contador's one third of the initial percentage and the only drop in front of Vos in the ranks.
Two thirds of votes for female cyclists are from Contador's initial contingent. The rest are covering only one third.

I think it's simple. Fans who believe Contador was the best male cyclist value the entire calendar and not just the Tour. Fans who believe Nibali was the best rider value just the Tour. Which of these fans are more likely to follow women's cycling.

+1.

The only women's race the Dutch July fans watch is probably the WCRR, and not because they anticipate it. They just randomly start the tv and are likely flabbergasted that there's womens cycling on, then they see it's the worlds, and then they think something like "might as well watch, Vos is probably gonna win".

Only Women's race July fans watched Vos got 10th. Like she's getting votes

Pretty ridiculous to have that in februari. Don't think the results will mean very much

Too much for that time of the year. Mtf is fine, but a crazy mountain stage is a tad too much :)

very nice parcours

perfect for Berto:)

I sure hope bertie is far from his best and saves his energy for the GT's to come.
Unlikely onowing Alberto, but Imo Contador should've started his season later. He doesn't need that much race days in his legs to win the Giro.

Oh well his trainers probably know better.

He's prince carnaval or something:confused::D

Hilarious scenario in ruta del Sol would be for Froome and Contador to both be totally out of it still and just ride in the gruppetto, before doing an ego sprint in the last 200m.

The queen stage has a cat 1 climb some 50 km into the stage (quite early) but it's not a monster climb. Then a cat 3 in the middle part and the finish at Hazallanas...7.3 km long. Not a crazy mountain stage just a MTF with a 1-2 decent climbs before.

Isnt it a paradox? Contador being best male rider of the year, yet another male rider was the best rider of the year among ALL professional cyclists?

Point being: move that garbage over here if you have nothing better to do instead of loitering

Hunched over on a bike no one is going to look skinny. Point being, he doesn't look as fat as you'd expect a fat person to look.

The only riders in the current peloton who do not look a bit chubby in the tummy area must be the anorexia Borgs

And as always the exception proves the rule.

Actually, it makes even clear that => best rider >> best male rider. Best male rider is just a popularity contest. Thanks

So, best male rider is just a popularity contest.
Best overall rider is ofcourse a contest where all voters are first tested for objectivity and have to have an cycling IQ of over 130.

No I see it.

You're hilarious
