Contador is by far the best ITT of all the spanish riders. Look at the guy his performances. If it's plan flat, he's pretty meh but it ain't that in rio.

Contador is imo one of the if not the best ITT ever on hilly courses. Rio isn't hilly enough though for his standards but i'll bet anyone that he'll be the best spanish rider on it.
How good Contador could be on the course isn't necessarily the point. It's about politics. Izagirre will almost certainly go as national champion and, especially as he would be a great domestique in the road race. If Contador would be outright favourite to win the TT - like if it was a proper mountain - then I'm sure he would be selected. But on this course, at best he's probably an outside bet for Bronze, and arguably doesn't have a better chance than Izagirre anyway. So, with the politics of the road race selection, it might not be enough to get him the place over another helper for Valverde.

Why should he say he only got 7 if he feels wronged? Have you ever seen an athlete not counting one of their own victories because they felt they didn't deserve it?
Exactly, he's maintained his innocence all along; of course he's going to count them.

This is such a tedious debate which seems to crop up every few weeks. He's won 9 on the road, and 7 in the history books - it's as simple as that. Choose whichever you feel is the more important and allow others do the same - there's clearly no right or wrong number.

Let's be honest, everyone knows history books don't mean anything, it's full of inconsistency, misjudgments, mistakes and whatnot.
The human being has shown throughout history that providing justice is certainly not one of his qualities.

Believing and only going by what is official just shows naivete and / or hatred because at the end of the day, people are totally clueless.

History books mean a lot. Yes they have inconsistencies and is mostly written by the winner, but it has great value.
Actually i wished people learned more from history because we keep on making the same mistakes over and over again.
Wait that's another topic.

In the books Contador will end up (currently, hopefully more) with 7 GT wins and in the future not many people will remember he won 9 and if new people will read about they probably think he deserved those GT's taken from him. It is what it is.

Funny thing is that If Contador wins the Tour, he's probably gonna show 4 with his fingers and maybe a reference to his 10 GT's.

The *** slap that will be, right there on the Champs Elysées

I'd recommend him not to do that.
For ASO he's the same as Landis or Armstrong. Poking them in eye would effectively end his career in disgrace.

He showed 7 at the Vuelta 12' and 8 at the Vuelta 14' (on the podium), I think he'll be fine ;)

It's a pointless discussion. He won't be in position to show anything.

Amazing, we have another Nostradamus :)

But, I'm interested, how would they even manage to end his career? A planned positive test right out of the worst conspiracy stories? ;)

That's contradictory with what you believe, that'd make you even dirtier for believing what's official lol.

No, if there is, it's only one way, which is illegal if their intention is to 'end' his career and guess what that also goes in the "truthful" history books.

If you have other ways, feel free to write them but I don't think you do, I mainly think that you are just talking crap

Who cares about history, anyone who believes that the history books are 100% accurate, are idiots.

Look at WW2 how the terrible acts of the allied forced were almost completely covered up. Or how germany was so bad yet the usa is the one who used an atomic bomb, twice.

Anyways Contador is gonna win the tour :p

Contador can beat Dennis and Kyrienka. He would have beat Kyirenka in the giro ITT if not for changed circumstances.

Granted that was after 2 weeks of racing but on the other hand this parcours is harder.

Kiriyenka, who has made the Olympic TT his main goal of the season, and is currently world ITT champion, vs Contador who is planning on peaking a few weeks earlier. Yeah I'm gonna back Kiriyenka over Contador.

Similar case can be put forward for Dennis. If it was more hilly, then sure, I'd expect Contador to be right up there, but the course is flat enough to give pure specialists like Martin a shot at winning and definitely a decent chance of a medal

Regarding the olympic talk, I am more interested in seeing Contador go for the ITT than the RR. It supposed to be pretty hilly, right? He could snag a medal if it's hilly enough.
Yeah, he definitely has better chance at a medal in the ITT. On paper, there are several stronger TTers, but it is just 2 weeks after the TDF so he should still be in good shape, and it's slightly hilly, so it's not impossible.

If the RR is hard enough, and he decides to ride for himself instead of Bala, he's got a decent shot at a medal, especially as the Olympics aren't a particularly controlled race with 5 riders per team, so tactics play a huge part. Would be very hard in the ITT where the strongest is pretty much guaranteed to win
