Contador can´t complain. He made his choice long ago, when he prioritized working with his friends over creating a competitive work environment.

By the way, Bodnar and Kreuziger could be here, although their loyalty to Alberto is, at least, questionable. But what about Valgren?

Honestly this team is a ******* joke. And Alberto is responsible for it. He should be leading by example. But when your best rider only takes care of certain people in the team...what kind of loyalty can he expect from the rest?

Alberto, you keep taking with you to anywhere you go...Jesús, Paulinho, Jacinto, Faustino...and we´ll see where it leads you...You haven´t learned anything, man.

I think you are right about Contador and his patsy. Maybe because he needs security and being surrounded by people that he can trust gives him just that. You can't blame him for that. You can't also blame him not taking Kreuziger to Trek for example.. even though, I questioned his decision.. because paulinho and jesus are good for his training mates, not much when it comes to build a strong team to win TDF. Sky created a competitive environment. So just making the cut for the TDF team is a big deal. And I read somewhere about how Sky won TDF. They won because every of their domestique does only "one job" which is to support Froome. None of that getting stage win, green jersey, polka dot or whatever. None of that.

I remember reading Landa's interview before TDF. He was hoping to be given a bit of a lease to chase stage win. All TDF, I didn't hear any comment from him anymore about his desire to do what he was hoping for, instead, what we saw on TV, he worked as domestique just like anyone else in the team. That just shows, "one goal only" period. Tinkoff has too many goals and too ambitious. That's why Contador doesn't get the support as he should be. Sky won because of the team effort, don't forget about that.

Vuelta, Contador might got his wish, to have his own patsy surrounded him. But he has to pay with the mediocre team and eat his 50' deficit. Maybe he prefers to have weaker team than dealing with someone who has their own agenda. At least, they are in "one mindset" to support him the best possible, even if it's just mediocre. well God knows. I hope that he got a monster shape to balance his weak team.

Some parts well written.
But...if the situation in the team is that when Bertie wants a loyal team he only gets a team like the vuelta one, it's wrong. Anyway it's only a speculation and we have no idea who wanted what and why some riders are and are not in. If Alberto likes someone or not, if he would want someone and the team didn't allow that? We haven't got a clue - or do you have some information?

I only rememeber that it was said that in 2014 Majka was in TdF on Bertie's request. But if it was true or not...

Totally agree with your first point regarding working environment and Team Choice. Team riders should be selected on merit, Not because you just want to give your mate a ride. It's ok sometimes but on a Team like Sky you get a place if you deserve one. Contador clearly likes it that way but its backwards. IMO.

I'm pretty sure there will be an 1 standing next to Alberto's name on the result of tomorrows stage. I'm not sure about the unit position of the number though. ;)

Top 3 among the GC guys. I think only Chaves is better than him in these kind of climbs ( i assume Valverde is fatigued)

Aubisque is more than enough for alberto

Like in 2007 ;) ;) ;)

#MRTdF2007

But this is not 2007 ...this is an era of Froome & Quintana ...where Contador is not invincible and time and time again he is let down by his team...

No other leader would come to the Vuelta with that team and hope to win

I think he will win tomorrow but I think not by alot and he will have alot of time to make up on a top riders ....and the mountians may not help him

I think we must be calm. Tomorrow will tell us a lot. I don´t think there will be many seconds between the favorites, the normal is between 5 and 30 seconds. But we will see if he is able to win the vuelta or not, even if don´t win it tomorrow.

The time lost in the TT with this team to me his acceptable. I´ve told you that i thoght he could loose 1 minute, so, to me it was normal... This vuelta has the enough climbs to he win if he is on top form... I hope sky isn´t strong, that´s my biggest affraid. If he attacks he needs to go... and let the sky train. Then we will see how Froome is... He must be tired...

Calm down, sincerely, i am vey calm.

Contador was decent but not spectacular in Burgos. I think he's going to need to ride himself into form. Froome will probably start strong and fade. So I'm anticipating Contador losing a few seconds to Froome today but I hope I'm wrong. Yesterday's slow pace will probably help him as I think fast flat stages have hurt him in recent years.

as far as I'm concerned straight after the tour someone was contemplating about 5 or even 8 stage wins, so I don't really think aubisque would be enough.

Contador? meh... what's up with him? was the injury so bad that he couldn't train that well? on paper he was supposed to be the one who has the most advantage with leaving early + nothing broken. Did he just loose his motivation or what? he was already grimacing halfway through the climb... he already down by 52 seconds, today another 20+ seconds... reminding me of Quintana at TDF..
