Some of the suggestion on here as to where Contador maybe going are way off...He has to go where there is a GT team
There has to be some problem with Trek or otherwise it would announced by now
So lets see
When Contador was rumoured to Trek months ago before the Tour he was still a strong potential Tour winner
Also Mollema had not shown anything in the Tour similiar to this year before crashing when he was on the podium
Maybe Mollema is the stumbling block. Maybe he has wanted Tour leadership and Contador wants the same
Or Trek wonlt pay for what they feel they already have .. a podium contender ??
Whatever it is ...its strange its taking so long
This absolutely makes sense, but Mollema has stated a several times in the press, also after the Tour, that Contador would be a great fit in the team and he could learn a lot from him and that it absolutely should be a big advantage for him.
But Trek could indeed have change it's mind. On the other hand, after this Vuelta, seeing a clearly injured Contador fighting with everything he's got, not only trying to follow the opponent's pace but attacking instead and moreover orchestring almost all by himself that fantastic stage that not made him win the Vuelta, but yes made him DECIDE who would win the Vuelta, how can one not desperately want this rider on his team?
However, I'm hoping he'll sign a great GC team that can provide him a handful decent climbers and allround pacers. Tinkoff last year on paper seemed fantastic, with Sagan, Majka, Kreuziger, Basso, Rogers, but disappointingly it turned out really really poor.
