It's just something TVE said of course so remains to be seen if it's true but who could be the "great Spanish rider" that isn't on Movistar yet? Samu has a contract with BMC IIRC, Purito is retiring, Luisle?
Landa doesn't seem happy at Sky.

What have you heard?

Landa is still under contract I thought? Anyway imagine Nairo and Alberto in the same team?! That couldn't work... If Alberto joined Movi it's got to be as Giro leader, but it's the Tour he wants. I'm confused.

It can't possibly be Movistar when you have listened to his interviews: Le Tour, Le Tour. I would love to see Contador on Movistar tho, but I cannot see it happening.
Yeah, doesn't seem very realistic. I forgot about Landa, he definitely fits the description. Possibly Intxausti or Nieve?

I will be disappointed if Alberto goes to Trek after so much mystery :p

WOW.. I'm getting excited - Berto told Spanish TV his future team might surprise us

he's retiring and he's joining the team of elderly ones?

just joking, I'm kind of tired of waiting for his team announcement

and I'm sure it must have had it effects on his riding quality as well

let's laugh this sunday evening he's going to -)

It can't really be anybody else than Landa/Nieve/Berto. The first two has though contract with Sky for next year.

Anyone outside would make the rumour unnecessary hype.

They talked about a rumour. Apparently Alberto won´t sign for Trek, but for a different team.

And tomorrow Movistar will announce the sponsorship extension for 3 years. I honestly doubt very much they signed Alberto.

Ahh okay, makes sense

I doubt Contador would go to Movistar, but it makes 500 times more sense than before the vuelta.

Who knows, maybe Contador thinks he doesn't have a chance in the tdf anymore so he wants the team which supports him best in the giro. Moreover he and Nairo seemed to get along very well.

Ugh, just announce it already. He needs a strong team more than ever. Gone are the days when he can ride against his own team and still win the Tour. I hope he finally takes it to heart and does whatever necessary to secure the support that NQ and Froome have enjoyed against him.

It makes sense in some ways, he has seemed quite friendly with Quintana and Valverde and he got a Movistar bottle on yesterday's stage, but that could just as well be sportmanship and respect between rivals.
It doesn't make much sense considering Movistar's reluctance to help him on stage 20, and Contador clearly showed in an interview that he was not amused. And as has been said when he was asked if he would come back to win next year, he answered "El Tour, el tour" which shows that's still his objective. So I don't see him at Movistar.

I reckon it's Astana DD Lampre or ofc Trek. No way Etixx have the budget for Contador after signing Gilbert on top of everyone they've already got, BMC & Sky won't take him after his suspension. Bahrain might have the budget so it's a possibility. Movistar won't have the budget even if they did want to sign him.

Maybe Rabofail, he'd be a perfect fit there these days ;)

Some of the suggestion on here as to where Contador maybe going are way off...He has to go where there is a GT team

There has to be some problem with Trek or otherwise it would announced by now

So lets see

When Contador was rumoured to Trek months ago before the Tour he was still a strong potential Tour winner
Also Mollema had not shown anything in the Tour similiar to this year before crashing when he was on the podium

Maybe Mollema is the stumbling block. Maybe he has wanted Tour leadership and Contador wants the same
Or Trek wonlt pay for what they feel they already have .. a podium contender ??

Whatever it is ...its strange its taking so long

Landa is great??? That description has absolutely nothing to do with Landa. Great?...no even a chuckle...Nieve is also not anywhere near the great class.

Sounds just an attention gathering statement from TVE, hey, milk the current mystery about Bertie's team and get some ratings and attention

This absolutely makes sense, but Mollema has stated a several times in the press, also after the Tour, that Contador would be a great fit in the team and he could learn a lot from him and that it absolutely should be a big advantage for him.

But Trek could indeed have change it's mind. On the other hand, after this Vuelta, seeing a clearly injured Contador fighting with everything he's got, not only trying to follow the opponent's pace but attacking instead and moreover orchestring almost all by himself that fantastic stage that not made him win the Vuelta, but yes made him DECIDE who would win the Vuelta, how can one not desperately want this rider on his team?

However, I'm hoping he'll sign a great GC team that can provide him a handful decent climbers and allround pacers. Tinkoff last year on paper seemed fantastic, with Sagan, Majka, Kreuziger, Basso, Rogers, but disappointingly it turned out really really poor.

Landa's going through a lot of personal stuff that has nothing to do with Sky, he's very happy with the team. Maybe Purito's not really retiring? :p

I just deleted a bunch of personal and off topic stuff about 2 pages back. I would very much enjoy if y'all pretended you were here to discuss cycling rather than each other.

Discussing other posters here is fun though, it's pretty much a theraphy session in this thread. You can't deny us that in these hard times :)

I can, and I will. I'm not in the mood to clean up after therapy sessions when I should be watching a USO final
