I think he'll be able to match Froome in the TT if not be just a couple seconds back from him, Tony Martin will take it. If he wins the Vuelta though I think he will do it in the big mountains.

Ye there is a climb on the TT. Will work in favor of Bertie

The climb will work against Tony ;), shouldn't be a problem for Froomedog.

Wont be a problem for Froome as such, but on a flat TT he would have had a greater advantage over Alberto than on a TT with a climb

I don't know why he spent energy today, well, not him but Navarro

Сontador is in a creative search. He still doesn't realize with what fire he is going to play.

McGee says COntador was holding back cos the climb was too easy and they didnt want him to waste alot of energy on marginal gains

Alberto is exactly where he wants to be right now and is where he is usually at during this time in a GT. He's within a few seconds that will be easy to grab in the next three weeks and he's not in the lead, so he gets the extra resting time that he craves.

The more energy he can get Froome to waste the better. Contador should have much more energy (less fatigue in the legs) so if he can get Froomie to waste energy, then it bodes well for AC.

Nah. Tony Martin takes it for the WC.

You've seen the course of the ITT?

It suits Contador so much, it's up and down the whole time. Not Martin his favorite course.

And contador said he really wanted to perform in the ITT and with that he means winning of course :D

Meh Alberto said he feels as fatigued as normally in this time of the year.

Alberto is quite popular.

He won "6" (I still call it 6 yeah) GT and a lot of 1 week stage races, what do you expect?

And he attacks the whole time and he's usually friendly.

If he was from Belgium, Holland or France he would be GOD!!!

True story.

This sounds a bit silly, but is meant as a serious question:

Say if Contador finds himself up the road on a mountain stage with a couple of the other real favourites for Red. And at the same time Roche is in danger of losing time amongst the minor placing contenders. Would Riis actually consider having the Saxo climbing domestiques pace him to protect those juicy points? After all a seventh or a tenth or a thirteenth at the Vuelta could make a significant difference to Saxo's points total.

A second queation: What role will Roche play for Contador next year? Contador is obviously the last rider to need a metronomic train pacing him up mountains. So what will he need a fringe GC rider who typically finishes 6th to 16th in GT for? Will Roche be hanging around so Alberto can have the novel luxury of someone to give him a bottle or a wheel when there are twelve guys left? Or will he be deployed riding a massive pace early on climbs until he breaks to soften everyone up for Contador's attacks?

As far as the first question when Roche rode away today I admit I thought; let him go Alberto he'll collect some WT points!

Secondly I'd think they'd use him to wear down the competition before Alberto goes and let him ride for himself in races where Alberto isn't riding.

Saxo Banks main priority will be to put Contador in red. I can't see them sending people to help Roche when they can instead help Contador to win the vuelta. But if Contador gets a gap on the other GC contenders and the other Saxo guys can't do anything to help him then I think it would be a good tactic by Riis to have them help Roche instead. Of course I can't recall anyone sending guys back to help a guy who will be on the team next year in order to get WT points. So I doubt something like this would happen.

The system is only 1 years old so obviously we won't have much references.
