I know there is a lot to come so judgement should be reserved but from the stages seen so far in the Vuelta, AC looks strong, but not excessively.

Those attacks on Arrete didn't stick because, it seemed to me, he didn't quite have the legs to hold them down long enough. And Froome looked very comfortable as did Purito and Valv in staying with him, I actually thought there could have been some time splits amongst those guys at the finish.

Great to see alberto back in action and looking strong though, few riders inspire me to get out and ride as much as he does.

They all crossed the line within 2 seconds. If you watch the clock very carefully you can even see that Froome crosses the line when the clock still says +0'00", then it jumps to +0'01" and Alberto crosses the line. If I'm correct there have to be full 1 second gaps between riders.

Some comments about AC the last few days, I don´t think at all he´s not ready, he´s just waiting.

Riis:
"All that watched TV on Saturday, saw that he rushed into the bullring in Pamplona as the first of our riders in the team race. But few are probably aware that he burst off right from the start, and took such a fantastic lead in the first two kilometers, that it was difficult for the others to follow. "

Rodriguez:
"I expected no major attacks on the rise, but when Contador attacked, I suffered a little bit, so I preferred to keep my own pace and then close the gap when it began to be more flat. "

AC:
"I felt strong and in excess of power, so of course I would test the legs, I have the right punch, and it's a sign that I'm ready."

Spanish journalist:
"You attacked many times, were you not afraid to use up too much energy?"
AC: Yes I attacked, but it was not hard, I just wanted to test my legs and I´m happy they feel good, I´m very optimistic.

As mentioned on the Eurosport commentary yesterday, I think AC is very concerned about Froome.

Gonna be a great race..

I don't, he never does that sorta thing. Or maybe he feels it's the only way he can win.

He know he can win, and he know he´s the strongest, mark my words.
He´s not even begun yet. Just a warm up, question is who can follow, maybe Froome can, maybe Rod, we will see, my prediction is nobody can.

Well like Anthony Tan said if stage 3 was Alberto far below his best week 2 and 3 are gonna be interesting.

I don't think Alberto is playing mental games in the press, he'd never do such things.

I don't know, Froome or Rodriguez. It all depends on Froome's shape.

They even said "nervous" which is quite ridicuolus at this early point. But then again it was the bootlicking Harmon who said it.

My bet is quite the contrary actually.

I think Alberto came as prepared as one can be without racing. I have no way to know what he "feels" but I bet he is quite relieved to be up there in GC already and probably preparing to do better.

I think he has looked pretty good during the circumstances. What we see is what we get. He said he only tried his legs at Arrate, no serious attempt, which immediately bridged Froome easily. Yesterday was not a hard finish so he just rode that off while looking comfortably. He has been perfectly honest with this. Remember this is the time when Sky/Froome should have close to a minute in favour since he before signaled he aint there yet. Still everybody looks perfectly comfortable by simply taking Albertos wheel.

This is for him to win.

I not think Alberto went all out on those attack, but i also don't think Froome did, he looked like he felt he had it under control, no point in wasting energy on following when the mountain wasn't higher, steeper or longer. He felt confident he could ride it up again quite easily... it will very interesting to see how will break first once they hit the "real" mountains.
