The question is 'is the bad day indicative of his form?' With <20 race days in over a year there may be more cramps to come :( Praying it was just heat and dehydration and he can bounce back quickly!

Cooler tomorrow which is good; but he didn't look happy on the bike today IMO.

Tomorrow will tell us a lot, hope the news is Good!

Last year's Tour and this Vuelta is probably the most human I have ever seen on Contador. Well, he wasn't at his best in the 2010 Tour either.

Good to know he's susceptible to fatigue, rustiness and other ailments that plague humans.

I don't think he's putting us on; he doesn't have it yet. Thank goodness week 3 is the hardest, he may have some catching up to do.

Will have to see how it goes...Vamos Alberto!!

As I understand it is week 2 that is the hardest. a tt, a brutal hill top finish and the 3 Andorra mtfs (the last on the monday). After the third rest day there is a weak ***, uphill drag and the Bola stgae.

Come on, he's had one bad day since his comeback. Cheer up, people. He'll be back to his usual level today, I am sure.

If Froome is even remotely human he should have a disadvantage in the third week as he should be getting tired.

Positive is that he showed he's strong, not Tour 2009 strong or Giro 2011 strong but strong enough to drop Froome.

If the stage win was important to Contador, he would have gone for it when he found himself in front with 500 to go.

Instead, even when a good 10 bike lenghts in front he kept looking back, not glances, but long stares, losing power along the way.

Interesting he isn't in "God Mode", he shouldn't be yet, hopefully the cyborg Froome doesn't collapse and we can ejoy a good battle.

It's the first defeat Froome has suffered since last year and had to be Contador:)

This first week is Purito ground, once they travel to Galicia, he's gone
