6 month ban, I don't care if they take his official results away, we all know what happened. You can't rewrite history when it's all on tape ;)

I know, it's just... lots of people will see him as a doper and will not acknowledge him as the winner. I feel so sad for Alberto, and I foresee more booing at the 2013 Tour.

If I was Contador, I'd say I doped and lay the blame to Johan Bruyneel to further damage Schecks reputation :D

Alberto Contador, in his peak years, can't ride the Tour de France and loses two GT's. I'm no longer sad but mad.
Cry me a river. The guy's a cheat and he had this long coming. He brought it on himself.

God, the backlash on social platforms is sickening - for me at least. Being from Luxemburg, I have a large number of local friends and not a single one of them refrains from acting smug and insulting. Mind you, these people don't give a rats behind about cycling when it's not July.

At this rate, Andrew the Turrible will have a huge incentive to act smug as well. And I don't like smug people, so... This might cement him as a ****** for me, which is sad because I really like his brother (most of the time).

The more I think about CAS decision (haven't read the report yet it's loading), the more it strikes me that they are saying implicitly that he did not dope--no blood transfusion or micro-dosing. The food supplement angle, which frankly NO ONE around here considered, seems almost a compromise. AC can claim he never doped (contaminated food supplement) but UCI/WADA get their pound of flesh (2 year ban). Maybe after I read the report I'll think otherwise, but that's what I think at the moment.

Yes I wonder what possessed them to bring up that "food supplement" theory since neither the UCI or Bertie had put it forward ?

Too bad two other dopers now inherit his wins.

Because we all know Frank is dirty and got off just because he lives in a country that only has 2 decent athletes and well, the brothers do everything together(their words, not mine), it's like doing 1+1 on this one.

Big guns on twitter are awfully quiet.

Well given UCI assault the most powerfull rider in political terms if they have a brain they must be quiet. It's gonna be an interesting after race.

Well maybe he should have thought of that before he cheated, huh?

I'm glad they finally got him.

but AC can still ride (and win) Vuelta, so will get some points for the year

will also ride the Autumn classics to get some points ... and worlds.

Saxo might still be ok

I have to read the complete award, but this seems to be very remarkable decision. Both meat and transfusion scenario were thought to be equally unlikely. A contaminated supplement is thought to be the most likely cause for the presence of clenbuterol...

Bizarre...

The funny thing is, (based on the press release) the CAS ruling essentially says the opposite. He ingested a contaminated food supplement isn't doping in anyone's book--unless you are adding a new chapter

Ok. I'm going to read the full report. Maybe my opinion changes.

So Tiralongo is Even Steven? He's not affected in any form by this decision. ;)

wiki was fast:
Final general classification

1 Andy Schleck (LUX) Team Saxo Bank 91h 59' 27"
2 Denis Menchov (RUS) Rabobank +1' 22"
3 Samuel Sánchez (ESP) Euskaltel

Bad thing is, Saxo might not be Pro Tour this year and the next two years.

Yes, Saxo needs to get out of the WT now. They want justice, well go all the way then and throw them out. Nick Nuyens doesn't deserve to defend his Ronde title(wildcards already given) because justice needs to be done here.

Yeah, but I'd rather not turn a blind eye to the few dopers they actually manage to catch just because many others escape their rightful punishment. Whatever the solution is, pardoning Contador is not it.

No he didn't. The best man won.

You really shouldn't push this point, it'll only blow up in your face.

Cantador won that Tour by attacking the yellow jersey while he had a mechanical. Cantador proved that year beyond any doubt that while he may be a great cyclist he will never be a great sportsman.

I agree, but it does fuel my hate for everything Radioshack related to ridiculous levels :).

I hope they get Frank Schleck one day, I really do.
