He pleads that these processes be conducted faster in future.
I can second that.
Valverde's case also dragged on for years, not to mention Der Kaiser.

If I were Contador, I would close the book and look forward, even if the civilian court goes against CAS it won´t be worth it. He can¨t change the verdict anyway, and he´s still guilty according to the strict liability rule, he´s responsible no matter how unfair it may seems, and I honestly don´t believe anything about this case could change the rules.

Pathetic. Riis does not fire him- that is an absolutely poor showing.

Because Riis sat in a hotel room with him and asked him: "Alberto-did you take a weight-loss drug while you were banking your rest day blood top-off?" And Alberto told him: "After my head injury and brush with death do you think I'd...wait; what was the question?"

Riis was satisfied.

I must admit, all these pathetic haters sometimes are very amusing. :D

From ES:
My dreams have collapsed," said Contador. "There's not been one morning that I haven't asked myself how I got into this situation. It's been a hard year. I wouldn't wish a year like this on anyone.

"Everybody has been saying that I'm guilty of something that's against my own moral standpoint. My feeling of injustice is terrible... Throughout all these months I've done everything possible to show that I was incident. I've written it all down, gone through everything, spent hours and hours answering the questions they've put to me.

"As I said to CAS at the recent hearing, if there's anything more I could have said to show that I'm innocent then tell me what it is.

"I do feel a strange satisfaction in that at least it is all over... I feel it particularly hard because the amount of clenbuterol was so small it would never change my performance."

Contador was received warmly in the press conference in Spain, walking in to a round of applause, and thanked fans who have supported him throughout the last 18 months.

"I want to leave good memories for the fans and have memories of doing my job well," he said.

"Every victory I've had hasn't just been mine, it's been for all the people who've enjoyed watching them too. They will decide whether I'm a champion or not.

"I'll continue riding. I'll keep on training, cleanly, as I always have done. Even though my morale is very low now I'll come back as good as I ever was.

"To me it's incredible, almost unbelievable, how much support I've had. I've had nightmare months when I couldn't sleep, months when I wanted to go home rather than ride a bike, so thank you to everyone who has supported me. It's allowed me to go on fighting."

Contador also blasted the lengthy process that dragged out his case for over a year and a half.

"What happened to me could have happened to anyone. For the sake of everybody the system needs to be improved."

I would have thought that not being able to convince the panel that his meat theory is likely (I use the word likely somewhat loosely here) had also played a role.

Ultimately as strict liability goes Contador couldn't come up with any mitigating circumstances (or a convincing explanation) when the onus was on him to do so. In that regard his ban is well-deserved even if the contaminated suppliment theory is not well supported.

Agreed. I'm only focusing my comments on the weakness of the CAS opinion as it relates to the contaminated supplement angle. I want to re-read the meat contamination and transfusion sections again, because to my mind it was clear they were going to give transfusion the nod (as most likely the cause), but I thought they were rather dismissive in their analysis of the meat contamination theory (which became a bit comical when they pointed to the fact that EU testing doesn't guarantee you won't eat contaminated meat to dismiss AC's evidence regarding 3rd party testing of supplements) on my first read.

Oh you mean being convicted without proof of wrong doing is fair?

Holy moly snip, I hope you never end up in the hands of the law and have to proof your innocence and not be able to, like 10000s of innocent people around the world, then I´m pretty sure those white teeth of yours would disappear very fast.

Susan

I am pretty sure that if Riis gets his sponsors sorted it wont be long till they announce that they have made a new x year contract starting from August 5th

So will Saxo resign him when his ban is over?

Pretty much. I think that this is just about Saxo Bank not paying Contador from now till august (maybe money for them to sign Garzelli if he has enough WT points??)

Actual there was proof, he returned an adverse analytical finding for clenbuterol. He failed to meet his burden to establish how the CB entered his system. As a result he was sanctioned. The opinion is flawed (IMO), but that's not the same thing as saying he was railroaded.
