How did this become another Lance thread? Oh, yeah. What the heck are they gonna have to talk about in August? And who do people still take the bait?

On topic, something that Alberto learned, and I finally accepted, is that if someone talks totally untrue, out of their bum trash, you don't read it, or place the slightest importance on what they say, or respond to them. You just put in the work to achieve your goals, and enjoy living a life free of anger or malice.

The ignore list makes it kind of easy, but the flaw is when people quote in replies. I just ignore a thread for a few days and it stops.

Alberto Contador doesn't seem to be saying anything with his mouth, except to thank his teammates. His legs are talking quite a bit....but I wouldn't count on him shutting those up any time soon.

Alberto is a classy champion who had the misfortune to get in the way of somebody's agenda. The way that Lance Armstong responded is very typical of how some Americans bully in order to get what they want. It usually only works in the short term, as negativity only attracts bad things. Lance was very negative last year, and it was not the media. We all heard it and saw it.

Very well said. I think that it now goes way beyond just thanking his team. One day he accepts a teammate's bike after a crash and does a mad chase to catch the group. On another he expends a lot of energy to squeeze a few seconds out of a one kilometer climb. Today it was going for it on a climb when he really didn't feel like he had the legs, admitted going too early, and toughed out the stage win.

I think he's doing a lot of it this year because he knows just how hard guys are working for him, possibly harder than they've had to work in the past, and he feels so appreciative and obligated that he's willing to really hurt to be successful for them.

The next Level of Learning for Alberto - dealing with the scrutiny and backbiting and accusations that come with being a post-modern dominant Grand Tour Champion.

The honeymoon period for Alberto will soon be over. It won't be long before the cynical fans start scrawling "Clinic stuff" with paint on the roads of France. Alberto claiming to be the "most tested rider" might satisfy the fanboys - but THAT excuse is painfully out of date.

How do you say SSDD in Spanish? Alberto may need to learn how to use the threat of lawsuits?

I bet the next American Alberto will rub the wrong way is Greg LeMond:(

Alberto is on the verge of EQUALING Greg's record of 3 Tour de France wins.
Greg will be at the 2010 Tour no doubt....and he will be watching Alberto.
Watching and waiting to pounce.

That is twice in your own thread that your implications were based on either lack of info or just plain laziness. LeMond has stated for all to see and hear that it was not his intention to accuse Contador of anything improper and that his statements were taken out of context. Your initial inaccuracy was already pointed out (by Publicus I believe) so essentially the entire premise for the start of this thread is based on your desire to ignore the facts. Now if all this was just tongue in cheek and not to be taken seriously then you've succeeded quite well.;)

I guess your MO for the entire season will be to pee on Contador's parade. Of course the "most tested rider" statement is and was only believed by those that are so blinded by the brilliance of a certain person"s media savvy (or former media savvy) and of course by their absolute adoration that anything contrary to his spoken word is considered blasphemy.

It seems to me Contador already knows something, that the Tour isn't the only race on the calendar worth winning. It's nice see him putting out a strong effort so early in the season.

At first glance I thought Carboncrank lives again.

A question occurs to me. I agree with you about being less negative and more inviting to new posters. How long should I wait before I can address them the same way I would Polish or Scribe or Flicker or Kadence or?

Hmmm. OK ... I will relax a bit.

Perhaps I just react a bit strongly when the first post is so aggressive and sounds like it is just to draw a reaction. There are other fans of LA that I don't call names, so it is mainly based on the style.

I also have noticed on the odd thread that when I check in, there are 5-10 pages of trolldom I read through to get up to date

+1

Disagree with opinions, do not attack posters would seem to be a good mantra.

I would say until they have proven their true colours. One persistent troll has caused this board some grief but not everyone with a dissenting opinion from the majority is a troll. Recent events with the loss of one at least one highly regarded poster have shown that this forum is no where near as welcoming as it should be towards new posters. Until someone has shown they are deliberately trying to disrupt threads or discussion of certain opinions they are NOT A TROLL!

I know there have been problems with a certain repeat offender but this place has become less and less welcoming since around last years Vuelta. It's been a slow slide.

I know I'm only a lurker]

Polish is doing what he does best polishing Lance's knob directly and indirectly. It's his only contribution to these threads.
and whats particularly impressive, his knob polishing business is done from the inside - a computer lab hidden deep in the dark and smelly place. only a true fan can withstand these conditions.

still i gotta give him +1 for baiting skills.

Expert knob-polisher and master-baiter. Should we be surprised?

Until Contador proves himself a worth adversary, and in today's currency, that is 7 TDF wins! He can 'shut the f*** up".

Walk the walk, and ride the ride. I'd say between Johann and Lance, they'd be around 50 million US in the bank, Alberto... How much in your's?

Is that you Carboncrank/whatever name you happen to use?

You are misspelling Johann again, as usual.

Ignored.
