Hahaha, such BS. You can SEE that the crash happened outside of the 3k, because there are signs on the side of the road with the distance to the finishline. After rewinding the footage, it's clear that the crash happens probably about 400 meters before the 3k sign. And that TJ's group catches the crash when the front of the peloton is already out of sight.

This is such a farce wtf!? Are they really gonna leave it like this?

I don't like to see races compromised by accidents. But the rules are clear. You can't change them just for the fun of it or in this case to give a rider a clear advantage. Then they could have done the same in the Giro yesterday. All the riders should have been given the same time because the crashes happened 6km from the finish. A farce.

After the harsh Viviani penalty the other day, and now this, I may have to reconsider my assumption that the Euros are bigger homers than Americans :D

Just in the nick of time!
Looked to me like he was just riding thru it AFTER they went down.

I trust the race jury. :)
Well the race jury admitted that second crash was outside 3k. I wanted TJ to do well but that decision is bs and seems like home cooking. Why have rules if you're not going to enforce them? It's a shame that happened to him but that's racing. You lose your credibility when you arbitrarily enforce rules. Hopefully he either goes on to win by more than a minute or he loses. If he (or Moscon) wins only because of this decision it'll be a shame.

Smells like the garbage bins outside a fish shop the morning after. Something 'fishy' about the sudden 'review'.

So that's the end of the 3km rule now then - endorsed by the UCI no less..

This looks like one of those rare cases, where there truly is no way to defend a jury decision. Normally, these situations can at least inspire arguments for and against, but in this case no. Way worse than some of the bad jury decisions in Tour de Farce over the last couple of years.

Wow, I checked who is the jury on this race and guess whose name popped up:

Commissaire(s) appointed by UCI
MARIËN Philippe
Président du Collège des Commissaires
MAGIERA Christian
Membre du Collège des Commissaires
MCCORD Andrew
Membre du Collège des Commissaires

Yes, the same Philippe Mariën who was responsible for Sagan's DQ at the Tour...

Another example of juries handling the races as shows, not as competitions. That's worrying. What about, for instance, doping issues - are they also treated according to what is good for the show and not what the rules say? Organizers must have the credibility of the sport in mind!

Ludicrous decision. I thought it was only boxing where you couldn't get a decision against an American.

What did Toms Skuijns, Marcel Sieberg, Ray Goldstein and Hugo Houle do to the judges to be given their actual finishing time?
