A bit unexpected. Almost like Becker winning over Sampras for once.

Thanks!
A bike throw doesn't win you a whole bike length, he just went a bit too early.why didn't Remco do a bike throw?
That seems to have been the difference. He not know how to do that? His spring has become world class, but you HAVE to do the bike throw!
Think it's more likely both are at a very good level. It's simply that Amstel is not actually a race where it's so easy to pull off a 40km solo, and Evenepoel is simply a better rouleur when they're at similar levels.Neither was in their best shape. But towards Liège, maybe Evenepoel is on an upward curve and Pog will be trending down. We can hope. But indeed, only Evenepoel could pull this off. Healy nearly managed it but a deus ex machina prevented that in 2023.
Only Remco can pull this off against Pog! Amazing race.
Great stuff, hoped for a Remco win
There is a Dutch beer that is actually good. But i forgot the name (not trolling). They can relegate MSR.Give Amstel monument status already and force a name change to a beer that's actually good.
La Trappe Blond Race has a... slightly sleazy ring to it though.Give Amstel monument status already and force a name change to a beer that's actually good.
Masnada did it first
YES!now that was a friggin bike race
Anybody here stating it's solely thanks to Remco?Hate that people are playing down Skjelmose's win already by saying it was just thanks to Remco. He obviously isn't as good as the other two, but he rode hard and rode well and fully deserved his win. We can't complain about underdogs not winning and then also play down said underdogs' performances when they win.

Skejlmose was incredible as well, but was losing time to Pog and had no chance what so ever at closing that gap. Pog and Remco made the race, Skejlmose was more of an underdog helping Remco out here and there and surprising the giants in the sprintNice recap of the race, not even mentioning Skjelmose's name...

It might have something to do with Remco being really good. Not sure a positive attitude closes gaps like today's.So it has all been about psychology after all. There might be hope for tomorrow.
100% agree. Skjel was the one who opened the chase and deserves every bit of that win. Pog possibly on the downside of his form curve, understandable, and I think the comments regarding him 'wheelsucking' are silly. He's still human and if you're cooked it's what you have to do sometimes, even Pog.Hate that people are playing down Skjelmose's win already by saying it was just thanks to Remco. Absolutely brilliant bike race. Could not ask for better. This portends well for L-B-L.
Pog animated the race, Remco and Skjelmose countered, chased like mad, caught Pog, great 3 up sprint that came down to a photo.
I mean, if you're watching this and need to say something negative, you probably have some unresolved issues you should address.

A really cool moment (I thought) was when Evenepoel caught Skjelmose, he gave him a quick gesture that says jump on. Basically, the kid took responsibility for being the lead chaser to catch Pogacar, and did not get bent out of shape by Skjelmose not taking big pulls.Remco attacked from a small group and Skelmosse was only one to hang on...and Remco brought it back together but sprinted 25 meters too early
Thats not true though, Skjelmose attacked first, was actually catching up on Pogacar, Remco attacked some km's later, caught up with Skjelmose and they caught Pogacar together, Remco did spend a lot more time at the front then Skjelmose though.Remco attacked from a small group and Skelmosse was only one to hang on...and Remco brought it back together but sprinted 25 meters too early
On the other hand, do you think Remco bridges solo from the group to Pogacar without Skjelmose in between, first as a target and then as a pulling partner?Anybody here stating it's solely thanks to Remco?
He attacked himself, so big kudos for that, but you can't talk about his win without mentioning him being towed to Pogacar by Remco.
