Amstel Gold Race 2025, one day classic, April 20 (men's)

Amstel is not comparable to Glasgow at all. Amstel is not really more technical than brabantse pijl or the olympics in Paris.
Huh, that’s not what I’ve read over the years from folks here who know the course and race well. No “technical” in the sense of difficult cobbled corners at Roubaix, but full of turns that require constantly re-accelerating to get back up to speed at the bottom of climbs. That is not similar to Brabante pijl which had sweeping turns heading into the climbs on the circuit.

So we may actually have a nice battle tomorrow! Remco is back, Wout and Pidcock and Healy should be good as well and OFC Pogi, who decided to keep pushing a week after Roubaix. Those climbs are quite short and the race should be competitive IMO.

Let's hope for a competitive race! I don't know how optimistic I am about it, given that according to himself, Pogacar pushed some of the biggest numbers he ever pushed just a week ago. I don't yet see the winning scenario for his opposition, if nothing goes wrong.
Would be great if it's a Remco, Pidcock, Pogacar + x fight to the finish, or close to it though. Remco had a good first race, so there's hope.

Chris Horner calls this race the 6th Monument. In my view this title belongs to Gent Wevelgem. Amstel is slightly behind. What do you guys think?
I think I used to argue that GW was #6 but in recent years when the cobbles specialists are regularly skipping it while riding E3 on the same weekend that argument becomes weaker and weaker. Clearly not even the riders are valuing it that highly.

Not sure, Brabantse Pijl isn’t a good benchmark for Evenepoel. He’s looking good but I wouldn’t be surprised if he suddenly collapses
