Using computer simulations and wind tunnel measurements with scale models of a time trialist and a motorcyclist, the researchers calculated that a motorcycle riding at a short distance (0.25 meters) behind a cyclist reduces their air resistance by nearly 9 percent. With three motorcycles, this reduction even reaches approximately 14 percent.

1m behind would reduce the air resistance 1.8% (with 1 motor). This would imply winning several seconds on 10km.

(Of course, a motor in front has a much bigger impact.)

Yeah, one meter behind, that‘s basically attempted manslaughter if anything happens. 5 meters is probably like .1% then?

Was that a quote he literally made about Vansevenant a few years ago, or are you just applying a phrase of Chris' to Vansevenant? If the latter, do you remember who it was originally about? Just obviously Vansevenant hadn't been pro long before Chris died so I'm wondering what race it might have been at.

This last week the commentary team for the race included cars and motorcycles as part of the reason breakaways were able to escape, drafting is after all important, why not a vehicle!
Remco is putting on a display of brilliance here and now. He is doing the lion's share of the work, put a minute and 15 into the chase, when they were right behind him. Team Trek also doing a good job ..now they are showing the chase attacking themselves for 3rd place..lol
