So Pidcock is injured right now, how badly no idea. But...

Would we say all 3 riders were on top form then? Pogi it's hard to tell, but seemed great, Evenepoel was on really good form, but was Pidcock? I mean he has won twice...oh sorry, won once and gotten second in this race before.

It's just that Pog and Remco are on another planet in hilly 1 day races. Had Pog been here, I'd look for a repeat of last year's sprint, except only Pog vs Remco this time. Those two would lead out their sprint from the top of the Cauberg, lol

LBL should be a Pog solo, followed by a Remco solo, just as we saw 3 times last year

Yes, Pidcock has absolutely no chance

This reminds me of youtube commentators who kept taking Pidcock last year at the worlds, Euros, and Lombardia, only for him to be absolutely mauled by Pog and Remco.

No different at Amstel and LBL
What a completely ludicrous take.

Wasn't Pidcock peaking during LBL 2023. We saw what happened there, but that's also just a more difficult race.

In AGR, I also expect him to lose though, but this year isn't a proper benchmark. Pidcock won't be at his best.

But he is much better suited to Amstel than LBL, Il Lombardia, Rwanda or Drome/Ardèche EC. Plus he had been flying this year. Really unfortunate with the crash (apart from the fact that he seems to have been extremely lucky with the outcome).

I agree. There’s a reason he won it once already.

I don't think this is fair anymore, not post Vuelta/MSR

Why do you think. It's clearly the great Romero Del Toro who is riding

Aside from the PCS f*ckup, this is actually such a ridiculous team for Amstel. I guess a few peoples shapes will be a questionmark but still, the depth of this team man...

I'm not denying Pidock is overrated by a lot of fans for other races, but his track record is pretty damn solid at AGR.
On the other hand, there are also loads of people that still believe Remco has a shot at GT's.. Both are equally delusional in my book.
But in AGR? Remco is in no way more of a favourite. There's a lot of technique and steering involved.

It’s probably not a trend that it’s a lesser startlist this year, but it doesn’t help Amstel recover the former cache the race had as the biggest classic outside the monuments. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard anyone suggesting this could be considered the 6th monument (yes, that was tossed around in the distant past). My impression is that among fans and perhaps riders Strade Bianchi has gained added luster as the big one-day race outside the monuments, while AGR has lost some gravitas?

I think many ot them won't be there; PCS list includes several injured riders like Pidcock, Narvaez, and Wellens.
Could it be the first race back for Wellens and Narvaez? I'm sure Narvaez has been riding outside since before MSR, from a post on his Instagram. And Wellens's injury must be about 6 weeks ago now.
